Job Description
Dish Society is a chef-driven, farm-to-table restaurant with locations in Austin, Texas, specifically at South First and Mueller. The restaurant is dedicated to serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, and brunch using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Known for moving fast but with intention, Dish Society places a strong emphasis on food quality, team development, and fostering a positive and enjoyable work environment. They prioritize sourcing from local farms and creating meals that reflect a commitment to sustainability and community support. This establishment values its team highly, encouraging growth and development through a culture that supports learning and leadership opportunities.
The role of Back of House Operations Leader at Dish Society is designed for someone passionate about kitchen work and leadership. The position involves hands-on management without the traditional Kitchen Manager title, focusing on leading from the line, setting the pace, and establishing culinary standards. The Operations Leader will support two key Austin locations, splitting time between them based on business needs. This role demands somebody who can seamlessly float between different stations such as grill, sauté, expo, and prep during peak and regular hours to ensure excellent execution and ticket flow.
Key responsibilities include coaching and developing other back of house (BOH) team members and trainers in real-time, supporting new hire onboarding, and maintaining consistency in food quality and operational standards. This leader is expected to enforce adherence to recipes, plating, and presentation standards while identifying and addressing gaps in performance. Additionally, the role includes overseeing inventory control, ordering processes, food cost awareness, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness and food safety standards.
This full-time, hourly role offers $25 per hour plus overtime pay and requires open availability, including weekends and holidays, with a commitment of over 50 hours per week. Dish Society seeks candidates who are fully bilingual in English and Spanish and have previous BOH leadership experience such as Lead, Supervisor, or Kitchen Manager roles. The ideal applicant thrives in fast-paced environments, stays calm under pressure, and shows a genuine passion for developing others through coaching and effective leadership.
Dish Society’s culture is growth-focused, emphasizing real development opportunities and valuing training done the right way. The leadership team is committed to building strong teams that take pride in their work and contribute to smoother, cleaner, and more efficient kitchen operations. Success in this role is measured by the strength and consistency of team training, elevated kitchen performance, and the ability to bring best practices across multiple locations. Working at Dish Society means joining a hard-working team that supports each other, values quality, and makes an impact far beyond just the food served.
