Job Description

The hiring establishment for this position is White Lodging, a reputable hospitality company known for its commitment to quality service and memorable guest experiences. White Lodging operates a wide range of hotels and hospitality venues across the nation, striving to deliver exceptional dining and guest service standards in every location. This role is based within the Bistro, a key dining outlet at one of White Lodging's hotel properties, where guests enjoy an inviting and friendly atmosphere paired with excellent food and beverage offerings. As a hospitality-focused company, White Lodging upholds rigorous standards in food safety, sanitation, guest interaction, and overall quality, fostering a productive and respectful working environment for all employees.

This role is that of a Bistro Server/Associate who plays a pivotal role in ensuring guests receive efficient, courteous, and outstanding service. The primary responsibility involves assisting guests within the Bistro by promoting the menu, taking and preparing orders, and ensuring timely delivery of food and beverages. Beyond just order handling, the associate must adhere strictly to health regulations and White Lodging's own elevated standards of quality. The role is multifaceted, encompassing guest service, point of sale (POS) management, food preparation assistance, barista tasks, cleaning, paperwork, safety compliance, and teamwork to support smooth Bistro operations.

In this position, the Bistro Associate establishes positive first impressions by greeting guests warmly and responding promptly to their needs. They are proficient in utilizing the Micros POS operating system and cash register to process orders accurately and efficiently. Knowledge of menu items, including preparation methods, ingredients, and specials, is essential to help guests make informed order choices, especially regarding dietary and allergy considerations. The associate actively promotes sales by suggesting additional food or beverage items to elevate guest satisfaction and maximize revenue.

Food preparation responsibilities include replenishing stocks, preparing menu items according to standards, and operating facilities such as the Turbo Chef. This role also involves barista duties like brewing coffee and preparing specialty drinks by specific recipes, and occasionally supporting bartenders with alcoholic beverage service in compliance with local liquor laws.

Maintaining cleanliness and organization is critical in this role. Duties include disposing of garbage, clearing and wiping tables and counters, restocking dishes, transporting dish tubs, and assisting dishwashing staff as needed. Proper completion of paperwork related to inventory management and other operational tasks is expected.

Safety and risk management are prioritized in this role, as the associate must maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensuring all food and beverage handling complies with White Lodging, brand, local, state, and federal health and safety regulations. Familiarity with hotel emergency procedures and active participation in maintaining sanitation standards are also required.

Self-management skills like planning, organizing, prioritizing duties, adhering to grooming and appearance standards, and consistent attendance at department meetings contribute to overall success. The associate works cooperatively with others, contributing to the collective effort to guarantee an excellent Bistro experience for all guests.

Flexibility is vital due to the diverse nature of the tasks, including occasional setup, maintenance, and takedown of banquet areas according to event specifications. The associate may also provide food and beverage service during business or social functions, emphasizing a friendly and professional demeanor at all times.

This position does not require previous experience or formal education, making it accessible for entry-level candidates who are motivated, dependable, and eager to develop valuable skills in the hospitality industry. The role demands the ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods and safely handle objects weighing up to 10 pounds without assistance.
