Job Description

Downtown L.A. Proper Hotel is a distinguished luxury hotel that has masterfully transformed a Renaissance Revival landmark building, showcasing the iconic architectural style of Curlett & Beelman, a celebrated design firm in Los Angeles history. The hotel is renowned for its creative fusion of vintage California influences and contemporary design, brought to life by the acclaimed designer Kelly Wearstler. Within this historic and artistic setting, the hotel offers 147 uniquely curated rooms and suites, featuring original works by local Los Angeles artists, blending cultural heritage with modern luxury. Beyond its accommodations, Downtown L.A. Proper boasts a trio of sophisticated dining destinations all housed within the historic premises, complemented by a stylish split-level rooftop pool deck presenting uninterrupted views of the city's vibrant skyline. The hotel also provides 12,000 square feet of distinctive event spaces, thoughtfully integrating elements from the building's sporting-club past, such as a vintage basketball court and an indoor pool repurposed into uniquely designed suites. This landmark destination showcases a commitment to exceptional guest experiences through refined design, superior amenities, and innovative hospitality.

The Beverage Manager role at Downtown L.A. Proper is a pivotal leadership position responsible for overseeing all beverage operations across the property’s bars, restaurants, minibars, and in-room dining services. The role demands a dynamic and strategic leader with a deep passion for hospitality and extensive product knowledge in wines, spirits, and cocktails. The Beverage Manager will curate and elevate the beverage program to align with the luxury brand's standards and the discerning tastes of its guests, ensuring a memorable and seamless service experience. This includes collaborating with culinary and marketing teams to develop creative and seasonally inspired drink menus that delight guests and set the property apart in a competitive market. Operational responsibilities encompass managing beverage purchasing, inventory control, and cost management to optimize profitability while minimizing waste. The role also requires building and maintaining strong relationships with vendors, distributors, and suppliers to secure premium products and exclusive offerings. Leadership is essential, as the Beverage Manager will be responsible for training, mentoring, and supervising bar and service staff, fostering a culture of excellence and personalized guest service. Compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal alcohol regulations and health and safety standards must be upheld. The Beverage Manager will monitor guest feedback and industry trends to continuously enhance the beverage experience, manage budgets and forecasts for all beverage operations, and ensure that high standards of cleanliness, organization, and presentation are consistently maintained across all beverage outlets. The salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $85,000, reflecting the expertise and leadership expected of the successful candidate. Joining Downtown L.A. Proper means becoming part of a forward-thinking hospitality team committed to creativity, excellence, and humanity, where employees are nurtured and empowered to build inspiring careers and deliver beautiful guest experiences.
