Job Description
Snowbird is a premier mountain resort located in the heart of the majestic Wasatch Mountain Range in Salt Lake City, Utah. Renowned for its breathtaking views and challenging terrain, Snowbird offers an exceptional natural environment that attracts outdoor enthusiasts year-round. The resort operates with distinct summer and winter seasons, catering to a variety of recreational activities such as skiing, snowboarding, hiking, and mountain biking. Serving both leisure and adventure travelers, Snowbird combines excellent guest services with a strong commitment to employee satisfaction. The resort employs a diverse workforce across full-time, part-time, and seasonal positions, maintaining a vibrant community that thrives on a shared passion for the mountains and the outdoors.
Within this dynamic environment, the position of Bell/Valet at The Lodge at Snowbird plays a pivotal role in ensuring a seamless and welcoming experience for all guests. This seasonal role, supervised by the Lead Bellman, encompasses a broad range of responsibilities focused on guest assistance with luggage, transportation, and vehicle management. The Bell/Valet acts as an ambassador of the resort, delivering personal guest service excellence and maintaining a high level of professionalism. Key daily tasks include escorting incoming guests to their rooms, handling luggage with care, parking and retrieving vehicles, providing shuttle services, answering guest inquiries, and managing the bell storage area.
The position requires a combination of physical stamina, interpersonal skills, and a sense of responsibility, as employees often work outdoors in challenging weather conditions and must be ready to respond quickly to guest needs. The role's work schedule includes varied shifts, covering weekdays, weekends, and holidays with workdays ranging from 8 to 10 hours. Candidates should be prepared for work periods that include early mornings or late evenings, with shifts between 7 am to 3 pm and 3 pm to 11 pm. The Bell/Valet must maintain a flexible approach while supporting the smooth operation of guest services and contributing positively to the resort’s welcoming atmosphere.
Snowbird values reliability, maturity, and teamwork, emphasizing a safe and efficient working environment. Employees are expected to engage with guests using a pleasant demeanor and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and other departments. The ability to withstand physical demands such as lifting heavy items up to 75 pounds and enduring cold and snowy conditions is essential. Snow removal and ensuring safe walkways during snowy periods are also part of the responsibilities, showcasing the varied nature of the role.
Beyond the job responsibilities, Snowbird offers a range of benefits to its employees, including ski pass and complimentary ticket perks, discounts on local eateries, retail shops, and lodging, as well as daycare for employees’ families. Additionally, the resort supports employees with a 401k plan that includes a company match, and exclusive discounts with partner companies under the Powdr network. Snowbird fosters a culture of growth and inclusivity, supporting diversity and an open environment for all team members, contributing to a fulfilling employment experience for anyone passionate about the outdoor lifestyle and hospitality industry.
