The Meat and Seafood Department Associate role at Lowes Foods is a critical position responsible for delivering excellent guest service through the preparation, presentation, and sale of meat and seafood products. This position requires a blend of technical skill in meat and seafood handling and cutting, alongside exceptional interpersonal and selling abilities to maximize customer engagement and sales performance. Associates prepare knife-ready products, including cutting, slicing, trimming, wrapping, weighing, and pricing in accordance with Lowes Foods’ standards to ensure product quality and freshness. They are also responsible for maintaining inventory, pricing, stocking, and rotating products in the sales areas to ensure optimal product availability and presentation. Maintaining strict safety and sanitation protocols is essential to this role, ensuring all products and handling areas meet the company’s high standards for health and cleanliness. In addition to these duties, the Meat and Seafood Department Associate addresses guest requests and concerns, communicates promotional items through public announcements, and contributes to minimizing product shrinkage by notifying management of any issues.

Job Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • ability to lift 50 lbs occasionally and 25 lbs constantly

Job Duties

  • Provides polite, friendly greetings and interactions with all guests as they approach the department
  • creates a selling environment using selling skills
  • prepares knife-ready products for sale (cut, slice, trim, wrap, weigh, and price) according to Lowes Foods standards
  • assists in product receiving, inventory, and storage
  • prices, stocks, and rotates frozen items, prepared meats, and fresh meat/seafood in sales areas
  • maintains safety and sanitation standards in all areas that come in contact with meat/seafood and in the prep areas, coolers, freezers, and sales floor
  • maintains high quality and freshness with products available for sale
  • ensures all products are in date
  • communicates shrink issues to management
  • communicates guest requests/concerns to management
  • makes PA announcements for sale and promotional items in the meat/seafood department
  • performs all other duties as assigned by management
