Job Description
Pueblo of Sandia is a well-established organization dedicated to fostering a supportive and collaborative work environment where integrity, fairness, and performance excellence are at the core of its operations. As part of the hospitality services within this esteemed Pueblo, the role of Bartender is crucial in delivering fast, friendly, and professional beverage and food services across multiple bars and restaurants on the premises. This position embodies the organization’s commitment to exceptional guest experiences, contributing to the Pueblo’s ongoing success today and into the future.
The Pueblo of Sandia Bartender position offers an exciting opportunity for those passionate about the art of crafting and serving beverages while maintaining the highest standards of hospitality and professionalism. The role involves preparing a wide variety of cocktails, beers, wines, and non-alcoholic drinks with precision using proper pouring techniques like jiggers and wine carafes. Bartenders are also responsible for serving food items when required, managing the bar area efficiently, and ensuring compliance with all alcohol service regulations including age verification and responsible serving practices.
Beyond beverage preparation, Bartenders at Pueblo of Sandia play an integral role in maintaining the cleanliness, stocking, and organization of the bar area. This includes setting up at the start of shifts, breaking down at closing, restocking supplies, and troubleshooting equipment issues such as ice machines and draft systems. The position requires sharp attention to detail, from ensuring glassware is spotless and free of damage to accurately operating the POS system and managing financial controls with integrity.
Bartenders are expected to handle challenging situations tactfully, including refusing service to intoxicated guests and documenting incidents appropriately. This role also supports team development by assisting in training new members and contributing positively through professional conduct and appearance. Punctuality and regular attendance aligned with the Pueblo’s attendance policy are vital for success in this role.
This role demands physical stamina and dexterity with the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and perform various physical tasks including balancing, climbing, crouching, and reaching. The work environment combines indoor and outdoor settings, subject to weather variations and varying work schedules including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
Employment in this capacity requires meeting eligibility standards including being at least 21 years of age, passing rigorous background checks and drug screenings, and obtaining necessary certifications such as Food Handlers certification and New Mexico Alcohol Server’s License upon hire. The organization encourages internal progression with potential career paths from Barback to Bartender, advancing to supervisory and managerial levels for high-performing employees.
Overall, this Bartender role at Pueblo of Sandia is ideal for individuals who thrive in dynamic hospitality settings and are committed to upholding standards that align with the Pueblo’s philosophy of collaboration, communication, and recognition for excellence. Working here means not only delivering exceptional service but also becoming part of a workplace that values integrity and continuous personal and professional growth.
