We are currently seeking a part-time Bartender to join our Boise State campus team. This position offers event-based shifts, providing flexibility ideal for individuals seeking supplementary income or part-time hours. The role pays between $15.00 and $16.00 per hour, reflecting competitive wages within the hospitality industry. As a Bartender at Chartwells Higher Ed, you will be responsible for preparing and serving beverages to guests with friendliness, courteousness, and efficiency. You will play an essential role in creating a positive atmosphere during events by ensuring high standards for product quality and guest service.

In this role, adherence to liquor laws and safety regulations is critical, including monitoring guest identification and managing responsible alcohol service. You will be expected to set up bars, manage inventory, and maintain cleanliness standards to promote a professional and attractive bar environment. Your duties will include mixing drinks following standard recipes, providing excellent guest communication, and handling payments accurately. The position requires prior bartending experience to ensure the ability to deliver swift and quality service under event conditions.

Job Requirements

  • Must have prior bartending experience
  • Ability to work event-based part-time shifts
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Ability to stand and move for extended periods
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Valid identification for alcohol service
  • Reliable transportation to Boise State campus

Job Duties

  • Adheres to state, federal and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests
  • Sets up assigned bars including requisitioning and stocking all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws, stirrers, condiments, glassware, ice and produce
  • Maintains stock, prepares, cures and stores all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables to ensure product quality
  • Greets guests in a courteous, friendly manner
  • Takes and processes orders for drinks, mixes, garnishes and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes, practices prudent portion control
  • Checks guests at the bar for proper identification
  • Detects and acts upon guest inebriation as trained
  • Demonstrates knowledge of liquor laws
  • Receives cash from guests, makes change, verifies validity of charges, records charges and ensures vouchers are properly executed
  • Locks up and stores all beverage product, food, equipment items, deposits and cash drops
