Job Description
The Omakase Restaurant Group is a distinguished culinary collective founded by Kash Feng, a Xi'an-born entrepreneur with a deep passion for hospitality. Rooted in the vibrant and diverse Bay Area, this multi-concept restaurant group is renowned for its dedication to serving exceptional Asian and American cuisine that embodies the true spirit of California. The group’s establishments are celebrated not only for their culinary excellence but also for their innovative approach to blending traditional techniques with modern flavors and a strong emphasis on the highest quality ingredients.
Among the distinguished venues under the Omakase Restaurant Group umbrella is Niku, a Michelin-starred steakhouse that specializes in Japanese Wagyu and open-fire cooking. Niku stands out for its unwavering commitment to seasonality, meticulous ingredient selection, and advanced cooking techniques. At Niku, the dining experience is crafted to be memorable yet approachable, offering guests world-class food and service without the often intimidating formality typical of fine dining.
The Bartender role at Niku Steakhouse is a crucial position within the front-of-house team, responsible for upholding the restaurant's high standards of hospitality. This role involves delivering impeccable service by preparing and serving a variety of beverages, including liquor, wine, beer, cocktails, and non-alcoholic drinks, all executed with technical precision and consistency. The ideal candidate will possess significant bartending experience, preferably in high-volume or Michelin-starred fine dining settings, and demonstrate a deep knowledge of cocktail recipes and drink preparation.
As a Bartender at Niku, you will be expected to manage orders efficiently, maintain a clean and organized bar environment, and ensure all opening and closing procedures are carried out flawlessly. This position requires proficiency in point-of-sale systems and strict adherence to cash handling protocols. The role also demands excellent communication skills and the ability to work harmoniously within a fast-paced team, supporting colleagues to provide an outstanding guest experience.
Working at Niku offers an extraordinary opportunity for individuals who are passionate about hospitality and fine dining. The restaurant champions a culture of respect, learning, and growth, offering competitive hourly wages plus tips, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits for full-time employees, and a 401k plan with company match. In addition, employees enjoy paid sick time, dining discounts at multiple Omakase Restaurant Group locations, and career advancement opportunities within the group.
The physical demands of the job include standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and engaging in various movements such as stooping and reaching. The position requires resilience, stamina, and a commitment to maintaining the high standards Niku is known for. Omakase Restaurant Group is an equal opportunity employer, valuing diversity and inclusivity across all levels of their organization and encouraging applicants from all backgrounds to apply. This role is ideal for a skilled bartender eager to elevate their career in a Michelin-starred environment while contributing to an innovative, respectful, and dynamic hospitality team.
