Makers Union is a vibrant and inclusive modern pub dedicated to redefining the traditional pub experience by combining local culture, diverse flavors, and a welcoming environment for guests of all kinds. Located in a lively neighborhood, Makers Union prides itself on offering a menu that features craveable, locally sourced food and drinks. The drinks program includes beverages crafted from regional breweries, distilleries, roasters, and wineries, supporting local artisans and celebrating regional flavors. This approach ensures a unique, community-focused atmosphere where guests can enjoy classic favorites alongside globally inspired dishes that reflect the diversity of the local area. Designed for versatility, Makers Union accommodates everything from casual solo visits and sports viewing parties to larger social gatherings and family dinners, emphasizing inclusiveness and comfort.
The company behind Makers Union, Thompson Hospitality, is one of the largest and most respected restaurant, food service, and facilities management companies in the United States. Built upon longstanding values of integrity, excellence, and respect, Thompson Hospitality has maintained deep relationships with clients, guests, and communities for over 33 years. They are committed to creating rewarding work environments where employees are valued and supported. Makers Union reflects these principles through its dedication to quality service and an engaging, dynamic team atmosphere. Competitive benefits and career growth opportunities are available to employees, making it an attractive place to work within the hospitality industry.
The role of Bartender at Makers Union offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about the beverage industry to shine in a fast-paced, modern pub setting. As a Bartender, you will be at the heart of the beverage program, crafting unique and delicious drinks that leave a lasting impression on guests. This role involves both the art and science of mixology—preparing classic cocktails with precision as well as experimenting with innovative flavor combinations that can elevate the guest experience. Beyond drink preparation, Bartenders serve as frontline ambassadors of the Makers Union brand by interacting with guests, providing recommendations, and cultivating a welcoming and engaging atmosphere.
This position requires creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a busy bar while maintaining high standards for cleanliness and safety. Bartenders will manage multiple aspects of the bar operation, including processing orders accurately, handling cash transactions, and collaborating with the kitchen team to ensure seamless service between food and beverage. Staying current with industry trends, new techniques, and emerging ingredients is also a vital part of the role, ensuring that Makers Union remains at the cutting edge of the beverage scene.
Successful candidates will work flexible schedules, including weekends and some holidays, and must be able to perform in a physically demanding environment characterized by standing for long periods, manual dexterity, and the ability to lift and move items such as kegs, ice bins, and cases of beverages. The role also requires the ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure while maintaining the quality and consistency of drink preparation. Certification in responsible alcohol service is required or must be obtained in accordance with state or local laws.
Joining Makers Union as a Bartender means becoming part of a team that values inclusivity, professionalism, and passion for hospitality. Whether you are an experienced bartender or looking to expand your skills in the craft bar scene, this role offers a dynamic environment where your talents can grow and contribute directly to the vibrant guest experience that defines Makers Union.
