The DoubleTree by Hilton Miami Airport Convention Center is a premier hospitality establishment located just south of Miami International Airport. Reporting directly to the Food & Beverage Manager, the bartender is responsible for preparing and serving a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, maintaining the bar area, and ensuring that every guest receives timely and friendly service.

The ideal candidate will have thorough knowledge of drink recipes and beverage preparation techniques, along with the ability to recognize regular customers and engage them in a personable manner. Efficiency and accuracy in taking and processing drink orders, handling payments, and maintaining cleanliness are crucial for success in this role. Additionally, the bartender is expected to assist in inventory management and support overall restaurant operations as needed. This position demands considerable physical stamina, as bartenders will be required to work standing for extended periods and occasionally handle heavier items. Fluency in Spanish is preferred, enhancing communication with the diverse clientele the hotel serves.

Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • previous bartending experience preferred
  • must be able to stand for extended periods
  • ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • effective communication skills
  • understanding of standard drink recipes
  • ability to operate a cash register and handle cash
  • willingness to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays
  • legal age to serve alcohol

Job Qualifications

  • be able to communicate and understand the predominant language(s) of our guests
  • have working knowledge of beer, wine and liquor and common drink recipes
  • possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money and operate a cash register
  • be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
  • work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally
  • fluency in a second language, preferably Spanish

Job Duties

  • take beverage orders from guests and servers
  • prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consistent with the restaurant's standard drink recipes
  • learn the names and personally recognize our regulars
  • record drink orders accurately and immediately after receipt into the register system
  • accept guest payment, process credit card charges and make change if applicable
  • wash and sterilize glassware
  • prepare garnishes for drinks and replenish snacks, appetizers for bar patrons
  • maintain bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages
  • clear and reset tables in bar area
  • present drink menus, make recommendations and answer questions regarding beverages
  • maintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areas
  • receive and serve food orders to guests seated at the bar
  • report all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to restaurant manager
  • assist the restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and supplies
  • be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor
