Job Description

IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) is a globally recognized leader in the hospitality industry, operating a wide range of renowned hotel brands that cater to travelers around the world. With a commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences, IHG prides itself on its welcoming atmosphere, exceptional customer service, and dedication to excellence in every aspect of hospitality. IHG hotels are known for their high standards in accommodations, dining, and overall guest care, providing a comfortable and memorable stay that meets the needs of both business and leisure travelers.

The Hotel Bartender role at IHG is a vital position within the hotel bar and food service operations. As a bartender, you will be the friendly and welcoming face for guests after long meetings or delayed flights, creating an inviting environment where guests feel at home. This role goes beyond simply preparing and serving drinks – it involves being a helpful host, a local expert on the surrounding area, and a proud ambassador of the IHG brand. Your presence ensures guests enjoy relaxing and memorable experiences in the hotel bar, making their stay truly exceptional.

In this position, your responsibilities will include preparing and serving drinks according to guest preferences and the hotel’s high standards, while also promoting special offers and signature drinks. Collaboration with restaurant colleagues is essential to provide seamless food and beverage service that enhances the overall guest experience. You will maintain your bar area by stocking supplies, managing inventory, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly. Physical tasks such as changing beer barrels and lifting crates up to 50 pounds are part of the job, requiring physical fitness and strength.

Accuracy and attentiveness in handling cash and credit transactions will be important, alongside maintaining the security of alcohol and hygiene standards at the bar. As a hotel employee, you will uphold a professional appearance by wearing your uniform with pride and adhering to safety protocols at all times. Flexibility is key, as night, weekend, and holiday shifts will be part of your working schedule.

In addition to practical skills, being articulate and approachable is critical for making guests feel welcome and comfortable. Ideal candidates will have prior bartending experience, formal bartending training, and a good understanding of local laws regarding food handling and alcohol service. Fluency in the local language and meeting the minimum legal age to serve alcohol are also required. Literacy skills in reading, writing, and basic mathematics will help you efficiently manage transactions and inventory.

The hourly wage for this role is $13.00, and IHG offers a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k retirement plans, and additional perks for eligible employees. Joining IHG means becoming part of a globally respected hospitality company that fosters growth and values its team members. This opportunity is ideal for individuals passionate about delivering top-tier service in a friendly, dynamic environment while representing a leading hotel group.
