The Bartender role at Ambassador Hotel Kansas City belongs to the Food and Beverage Department, reporting to the F&B Supervisor. This non-exempt position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of exceptional drinking and dining experiences for guests at the bar and dining areas. Bartenders here must possess outstanding multitasking abilities, prioritize tasks efficiently, and communicate effectively to create an inviting ambiance where all guests feel welcomed and valued. A strong knowledge of spirits, cocktails, and drink flavor profiles is essential, as bartenders prepare all cocktails and beers with precision and hospitality. Responsibility extends beyond drink preparation to include guest engagement, upselling drink specials, executing wine service, maintaining cleanliness and stock at the bar, and ensuring all safety and dietary concerns are clearly communicated.   • Knowledge of wine and beverage brand selections
  • Comprehensive knowledge of wines by the glass and bottle
  • Complete understanding of classic and contemporary cocktail recipes
  • Ability to make food and beverage pairing recommendations
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to operate POS systems
  • Knowledge of basic sanitation
  • Ability to work on feet for long periods and lift up to 40 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to perform standardized cocktail recipes

  • Proficient in pre-check register operation
  • Basic math skills and ability to handle money
  • Knowledge of computer operations and ordering procedures
  • Knowledge of sanitation practices
  • Ability to work in a team and handle multitasking

Job Duties

  • Observe customers and greet promptly and properly
  • Present drink menus and answer questions
  • Take beverage orders from guests and servers
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks following standard recipes
  • Upsell drink specials and food items
  • Execute wine service when necessary
  • Check in regularly with guests to ensure satisfaction
  • Communicate allergy and dietary restrictions
  • Take tables in bar or dining room as assigned
  • Record drink orders accurately into POS
  • Accept guest payment and process transactions
  • Learn the names of patrons and recognize regulars
  • Provide gracious and professional service
  • Respond promptly to requests or problems
  • Report equipment or maintenance issues
  • Maintain bar cleanliness and stock
  • Assist in restocking and replenishing inventory
