Job Description

Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG), founded by renowned restaurateur Danny Meyer, is a distinguished hospitality organization committed to delivering exceptional dining experiences and fostering a people-first culture. With a strong foundation in Enlightened Hospitality, USHG has earned widespread acclaim for its innovative approach to hospitality that prioritizes the wellbeing and development of employees, creating an environment where talent flourishes and guests consistently receive outstanding service. USHG operates a family of celebrated restaurants and is now expanding its award-winning hospitality to Downtown Detroit.

Opening in early 2026, USHG's newest venue will be located at Hudson's Detroit on Woodward Avenue, positioned in the vibrant heart of the city's Central Business District. This prime location places the team within walking distance of world-class dining, shopping, arts, culture, major sports venues, and the scenic Detroit Riverfront. The new restaurant will serve as a dynamic destination that embodies the city's rich cultural heritage, community spirit, and diverse experiences, offering guests a unique and memorable hospitality environment.

The role of Bartender at USHG in Detroit is integral to delivering the group's signature service. As a vital member of the restaurant's Service team, the Bartender will be a knowledgeable ambassador of the beverage program, proficient in all aspects of cocktails, spirits, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages. This position requires a deep understanding of the menu and the ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members, ensuring an exceptional hospitality experience. The Bartender serves not only as a maker of drinks but as a leader on the floor who supports the team, answers guest inquiries with expertise, and consistently embodies the principles of Enlightened Hospitality.

This full-time position offers competitive pay, along with robust benefits including comprehensive health coverage, paid time off, opportunities for growth, and unique perks such as eligibility for the USHG Digital Wallet, which provides next-day access to earnings. Joining USHG means becoming part of a culture rooted in care, creativity, and continuous development, where employees are regarded as the organization's greatest asset. The role demands adaptability, a passion for beverages and hospitality, and a commitment to creating a welcoming, clean, and organized bar environment.

USHG's culture emphasizes six core behaviors: playing to win with humble swagger, proactive connection-building, dedication to excellence, resilience through learning from mistakes, generosity with charitable assumptions, and responsibility for the community impact. These guiding principles shape how team members collaborate and serve, fostering a workplace environment that values diversity, inclusion, and personal growth. The Bartender role, therefore, is not just a job but a vital part of a larger mission to transform hospitality and enrich the Detroit dining landscape.
