Job Description

The Barista role is essential within our food and beverage team, serving as the first point of contact for guests at our cafe. This position entails the preparation and serving of coffee drinks and other beverages while maintaining full knowledge of the menu and any special offerings. The Barista is responsible for the setup and restocking of the barista counter, ensuring all equipment is clean and properly stored, and providing attentive, friendly, and professional service to every guest. The role demands an acute focus on detail and hospitality to contribute positively to the guest experience. Baristas also work closely with kitchen staff to ensure timely service and that food is served at the correct temperature. With an hourly rate of $21.30 plus tips, this part-time position offers a competitive wage along with benefits such as a 401(k) savings plan with matching contributions. Job Requirements

  • Must have a High School Diploma, G.E.D., or related Food Service Job Experience
  • Must acquire and maintain a Food Handler's Card, Alcohol Awareness Certification, and other required compliance trainings
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
  • Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, management staff, and guests in a clear, business-like, and respectful manner
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment preferred
  • Previous experience preparing coffee drinks is a plus

Job Duties

  • Have knowledge of how to build coffee drinks
  • Understand how to build a menu and be able to portion out drinks
  • Maintain knowledge of the menu and any special items being offered
  • Provide quick, attentive, friendly, and professional service to banquet guests and communicate clearly with all customers
  • Ensure that food items are served at proper temperature and immediately upon availability from the kitchen
  • Ensure neat presentation of all ordered items with no spillover
  • Pre-bus tables and fully bus tables when necessary during peak periods
  • Maintain availability to work during many peak periods
  • Stock beverage stations when necessary including ice, juices, glassware, sugar packets
  • Maintain high responsiveness to customer desires and requests
  • Maintain a professional and clean appearance
  • Communicate with waitstaff, buspersons, bartenders, supervisors, and kitchen staff to improve communication and coordination
  • Build and maintain knowledge regarding bar offerings so that patron questions may be accurately answered
