The Barista I position at Sodexo is based within the OU Health - University of Oklahoma Medical Center. This full-time role offers a competitive wage ranging from $15.56 to $16.17 per hour and requires open availability across any shifts, with specific details shared during the interview process. As a Barista I, your primary responsibility will be to deliver exceptional customer service combined with preparing high-quality artisanal beverages. This role is vital in creating a welcoming and friendly atmosphere where customers feel valued and engaged.
In this position, baristas are expected to greet customers warmly and deliver prompt, personalized service. Preparing a wide variety of beverages including hot and cold coffee drinks such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, latte, tea, chai, and fruit smoothies is a regular responsibility. Baristas must remain attentive to customer specifications to ensure satisfaction. Relationship building with customers is encouraged to create a loyal clientele while also promoting menu items through upselling. Organizational skills are necessary to maintain an attractive and efficient coffee bar setup, including the careful arrangement of supplies, cups, and napkins.
Cleanliness and operational safety are emphasized through regular cleaning of coffee machines, dining areas, and preparation zones. Cash handling duties include operating a register and managing transactions in accordance with company protocols. Physical demands include significant walking or moving around during shifts that may extend beyond eight hours. Baristas must be able to stand for extended periods and perform tasks that require reaching, bending, lifting up to 35 pounds frequently, and occasionally moving heavier items up to 50 pounds.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma, General Education Diploma (GED) or equivalent experience
- Related work experience in customer service
- Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, inventory control standards and systems
- Availability for any shift as open availability is required
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods up to and beyond 8 hours
- Ability to frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to arrive to work on time consistently
- May require Starbucks barista certification
- Willingness to perform assigned duties specific to the client or business needs
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Greet all customers and provide quick, friendly, personalized service
- Mix and serve hot and cold drinks such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, latte, tea, chai, fruit smoothies, etc., according to customer specifications
- Work to maintain good customer relations and ensure rapid delivery of all drinks and food
- Educate customers regarding menu offerings and initiate suggestive sales
- Organize supplies and cups/mugs on the coffee cart/bar in an attractive manner
- Regularly clean coffee machines, restaurant areas, and preparation areas
- Record all sales, collect money, operate a cash register and follow all cash handling procedures as necessary
- Walk or move around significantly during the shift
- Stand or walk for long periods possibly exceeding 8 hours
- Reach, bend, squat, push or pull and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds
- Attend work and arrive to scheduled shifts on time and with sufficient regularity
- Perform other tasks as assigned depending on business needs and client requirements
