Job Description

The company is currently hiring immediately for the position of Barista at its Hoosier Village location in Indianapolis, Indiana. This role offers both full-time and part-time opportunities, providing a flexible schedule primarily from Monday to Friday between 8:45 am and 4:00 pm, with the possibility of working Saturdays from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm as needed. The hourly pay ranges from $19.00 to $21.00, reflecting competitive compensation for the hospitality sector in the region.

As a Barista at Morrison Living, you will be a key member of the culinary team, which is the heart of the company’s business. This position focuses on crafting and serving high-quality coffee and espresso beverages, as well as related food and beverage items. The role demands not only proficiency in preparing drinks to precise standards using espresso orders and recipes but also adherence to food safety and sanitation guidelines outlined by HACCP. You will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in your service area, replenishing supplies, handling payments accurately through the point of sale system, and ensuring an inviting and efficient customer service experience.

Understanding the daily menu items thoroughly, articulating them clearly to customers, and using effective selling techniques are essential components of the role. Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

  • basic math skills for handling cash and payments
  • ability to follow detailed recipes and portion control guidelines

Job Duties

  • Prepares espresso orders for customers and catering using standard measures and recipes
  • enters orders accurately into POS device
  • accepts cash and charge payments
  • replenishes condiments, beverages and general supplies while maintaining cleanliness of service area
  • ensures proper presentation, portion control and maintenance of proper serving temperatures
  • follows HACCP standards
  • maintains sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies and utensils
  • ensures proper food preparation by using approved recipes and following prescribed production standards
  • keeps display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service
  • cleans equipment and workstation thoroughly before leaving the area for other assignments
  • greets customers courteously and interacts in a manner to ensure customer satisfaction
  • relays relevant concerns from customers to supervisors
  • serves customers quickly and efficiently, and prevents delays in serving lines
  • demonstrates a complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them to customers
  • serves as an advocate of selling techniques to the customer by establishing good communication and assisting in the buying decision-making process
  • ensures all display foods are merchandised attractively per standards
  • serves food neatly and attractively per standard
  • performs other duties as assigned
