Job Description
Sodexo is a global leader in providing food service, facilities management, and integrated solutions, operating in various sectors including education, healthcare, and corporate environments. Established with a strong commitment to improving the quality of life for those it serves, Sodexo partners with clients worldwide to deliver exceptional experiences for both customers and employees. The company values inclusivity, respect, and personal expression, fostering a culture where all employees feel valued and empowered to contribute their ideas. Sodexo emphasizes equal employment opportunities and maintains a supportive work environment where diversity and belonging are core principles.
The Barista role at Sodexo, based at the University of Texas at Tyler, offers both full-time and part-time employment opportunities with an hourly pay range of $13.00 to $16.21. This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in fast-paced customer service environments and who take pride in crafting high-quality, hand-prepared beverages. Candidates will work varying shifts with a preference for open availability, ensuring coverage during busy periods. Those currently enrolled as university students, including international students with work-hour restrictions, are encouraged to explore specific student worker positions offered through their institutions.
As a Barista, you will be the face of Sodexo’s coffee service, greeting guests warmly and delivering prompt, personalized beverage service. The role involves preparing a diverse range of beverages, including coffee, espresso, cappuccino, café latte, tea, chai, and fruit blend drinks, adhering to customer preferences. Beyond beverage preparation, you will maintain attractive displays of coffee supplies, ensure cleanliness of equipment and work areas, and manage sales transactions with accurate cash-handling procedures.
This role demands physical stamina as it requires significant mobility, including standing or walking for extended periods, lifting supplies up to 35 pounds regularly, and occasionally moving items up to 50 pounds. Punctuality and consistent attendance for scheduled shifts are essential. While the primary duties focus on beverage preparation and customer interaction, additional responsibilities may be assigned based on specific client needs and business demands.
Sodexo supports its employees with continuous training and opportunities for advancement, aiding career growth within the company’s diverse operational fields. The benefits package is comprehensive, encompassing paid time off, holidays, medical, dental, and vision insurance, tuition reimbursement, 401k plans, employee discount programs, and potentially extra location-specific benefits such as free shift meals, uniforms, safety shoes, and transportation support.
Joining Sodexo as a Barista means becoming part of an organization dedicated to creating a positive impact in the communities it serves. The company’s foundational purpose is to create a better everyday for everyone, and this role contributes directly to that mission by delivering exceptional service and fostering a welcoming environment. Sodexo’s commitment to fairness and respect ensures you can be yourself at work and feel part of a strong, inclusive team, making this an excellent opportunity for those seeking meaningful employment with growth potential in the food service industry.
