The Barista position at Sodexo is a part-time role based at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, offering an hourly wage range between $15 and $17. Job Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- Previous customer service experience
- Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, standards, and inventory control systems
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Must arrive on time and maintain satisfactory attendance
- Open availability preferred
- Ability to follow cash handling procedures
- May require certification as a Starbucks Barista
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- Previous customer service-related work experience
- Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, standards, and inventory control systems
- Ability to operate a cash register and handle monetary transactions
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a team and independently
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures and client requirements
- Certification as a Starbucks Barista may be required for some positions
Job Duties
- Greet all guests and provide quick, friendly, and personalized service
- Mix and serve hot and cold beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, café latte, tea, chai, fruit blend drinks, etc., while considering customer specifications
- Work to maintain good customer relations and speedy delivery of all beverages and food items
- Educate guests regarding menu offerings and initiate suggestive selling
- Arrange coffee bar/cart supplies and cups/mugs to make attractive displays
- Clean coffee machines, restaurant areas, and preparation areas
- Record all sales, collect money, operate a cash register, and follow all cash-handling procedures as required
- Walk or stand for extended periods of time, throughout the entire shift
- Reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds
- Attend work and show up for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
- Perform other duties as assigned, which may differ depending on business necessities and client requirements
