The Barback role at WATR, a part of Starwood Hotels, is an essential position supporting the bartender and contributing to the overall beverage service experience. A Barback acts as an extension of the bartender, ensuring that the bar operates smoothly and efficiently by preparing the necessary supplies and maintaining a well-stocked station. The role involves performing multiple tasks such as setting up and breaking down the bar area before and after service, arranging bottles, glassware, and bar tools, and replenishing inventory including liquor, mixers, garnishes, and other supplies. The Barback is responsible for preparing fresh and attractive garnishes according to set standards and managing the ice supply to guarantee efficient drink preparation.

Serving as a supportive team member, the Barback fetches and carries items, clears empty glasses and bottles, and assists guests whenever needed to maintain seamless operations. This position also requires vigilance to ensure adherence to all company safety, security policies, and procedural standards, including proper storage of flammable materials and reporting any hazards or accidents. Job Duties

  • assist bartenders in setting up and breaking down the bar area before and after service including arranging bottles glassware and bar tools and ensuring all necessary supplies are readily available
  • stock and replenish bar inventory including liquor mixers garnishes and other supplies to ensure bartenders have everything needed to prepare drinks efficiently and accurately
  • prepare garnishes such as citrus wedges olives and herbs according to established recipes and standards ensuring freshness attractiveness and readiness for use during service
  • monitor and manage the supply of ice ensuring ice bins are filled and ice machines are functioning properly to support efficient preparation and service of drinks
  • provide support to bartenders during service including fetching and carrying items clearing empty glasses and bottles and assisting with guest requests to help ensure smooth and efficient operations
  • follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures report any maintenance problems safety hazards accidents or injuries complete safety training and certifications properly store flammable materials
  • ensure compliance with hotel policies procedures and standards with self and colleagues
  • ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional
  • maintain confidentiality of proprietary information
