Job Description

The Long Weekend is a distinguished premium cocktail bar situated in a historic 1920s bank building at the corner of Columbus and Broadway in North Beach, San Francisco. Known for its immersive cultural experiences, this unique bar features a rotating cultural theme every nine months, currently showcasing "Long Weekend Havana," which celebrates the vibrant spirit and rich traditions of Cuban nightlife. The establishment spans three elegant levels, including a traditional Cuban-style main bar, mezzanine lounges, and an exclusive underground vault bar named "La Bóveda," where guests can enjoy a modern interpretation of Havana's nightlife scene. Recognized for its dedication to quality, ambiance, and customer experience, The Long Weekend attracts patrons who appreciate sophisticated cocktails paired with a culturally rich environment.

As part of this dynamic environment, the Long Weekend is seeking an energetic and reliable Barback to join their team. This role is ideally suited for individuals with prior experience in the restaurant, bar, or hotel industries or those who possess a strong eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced, high-quality cocktail bar setting. Working at The Long Weekend offers the opportunity to be involved in a unique hospitality venue that values creativity, cultural expression, and excellence.

The Barback's primary responsibility is to support bartenders during daily service operations, ensuring that all behind-the-scenes tasks are performed efficiently to maintain a smooth customer experience. This includes maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the bar, managing glassware during busy periods, and promptly replenishing supplies like ice and bottles. Given the bar's multilayered layout and high volume of patrons, the Barback is essential in facilitating seamless service, allowing bartenders to focus on delivering exceptional cocktails and customer engagement.

Typical working hours are Monday through Saturday from 3:30 PM to 2:30 AM, accommodating the high-energy nightlife atmosphere that The Long Weekend embraces. The role may occasionally involve opening and closing duties, demanding punctuality, reliability, and a responsible work ethic. Candidates should be comfortable working late hours and thrive in an environment where teamwork and communication are key to success.

The Long Weekend values employees who take direction well, exhibit strong attention to detail, and bring a positive attitude towards learning and collaboration. Basic math skills are necessary to contribute effectively when assisting with orders and inventory management. Additionally, employees must be at least 21 years old and either have or be willing to obtain a California Food Handler’s Certification, complying with health and safety regulations.

Joining The Long Weekend team means becoming part of an inclusive, equal opportunity employer that fosters diversity and promotes a respectful workplace. While visa sponsorship is not available, the company welcomes applicants from a wide range of backgrounds without discrimination based on protected legal statuses.

In return for your dedication and hard work, The Long Weekend offers compensation at or above the San Francisco minimum wage, supplemented by tips. Qualifying employees also receive company-sponsored medical, dental, and vision insurance benefits alongside a matching 401(k) retirement savings plan. This combination of a culturally rich work environment, competitive pay, and comprehensive benefits makes The Long Weekend a compelling employment choice for individuals seeking to grow their hospitality careers in a vibrant, premium cocktail bar setting.
