The Oak Room is currently seeking a Barback to join their professional and dynamic team. This role is integral to supporting the bartenders and ensuring that the bar operates smoothly throughout service. The Barback will be responsible for setting up and maintaining bar stations in an organized and efficient manner, restocking garnishes, liquor, beer, and other beverages, as well as maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards within the bar area. This position is well-suited for individuals who are detail-oriented, proactive, and possess excellent communication skills to effectively work alongside both front-of-house and back-of-house teams. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in bar or restaurant environments, display a positive attitude, and be capable of multitasking in a fast-paced setting. This role also demands physical stamina and dexterity as it involves standing for extended periods, lifting, and maneuvering heavy items. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for an extended period of time
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously
  • May be required to lift trays of food or food items weighing up to 30 lbs
  • Must have the ability to bend, squat and lift on a regular and continuing basis and occasionally lift up to 75 lbs
  • Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs occasionally
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment, including but not limited to cutlery used in the cutting of fruit for garnishes

Job Qualifications

  • Six months previous bar, restaurant, or hotel experience
  • Excellent listener and communicator
  • Ability to focus on guest interaction and multitask
  • Team player and able to anticipate others' needs
  • Positive attitude
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays when required

Job Duties

  • Properly set up the bar stations, prepare and restock garnishes as directed by management
  • Responsible for keeping all liquor displays and shelving organized and maintaining par levels
  • Clean counters and furniture, clean glasses, run food, clear plates, take out trash, unclog sinks
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the back bar, liquor displays, storage areas, and service stations
  • Remove trash and recycling and maintain overall sanitation standards
  • Ensure bar is well stocked including refilling ice wells, stock glasses and straws, replenish liquor bottles, restock beers and other beverages
  • Organize and inventory all shipments of liquor and beer in designated areas
  • Track opening and closing inventory levels
  • Perform side-work and all other opening and closing procedures
  • Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines
  • All other duties as assigned
