Job Description
Brooklyn Bowl Philadelphia is set to become an iconic entertainment destination in the heart of the historic Fishtown neighborhood. Following the successful blueprint of its original Brooklyn location, which Rolling Stone hailed as one of the most incredible places on Earth, Brooklyn Bowl Philadelphia combines the vibrant elements of live music, bowling, craft beer, and culinary excellence to offer an unparalleled night out. This is not just another entertainment venue; it stands as a unique fusion of cultural, recreational, and culinary experiences, bringing together 24 championship bowling lanes, two full-service bars featuring locally crafted beers, and a meticulously curated food menu by the acclaimed Blue Ribbon restaurant group. Positioned adjacent to prominent venues like The Fillmore and The Punchline, Brooklyn Bowl Philadelphia is part of a burgeoning entertainment district that attracts music enthusiasts, food lovers, and social butterflies alike. The venue is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2021 and will mark the fourth Brooklyn Bowl location, continuing its tradition of high-quality entertainment and social engagement.
Brooklyn Bowl is deeply rooted in homegrown values and community commitment, emphasizing the use of locally made products, championing environmental sustainability, and creating a dynamic space that combines top-tier music with the enjoyable activities of bowling, excellent beer, and distinctive food. The company’s dedication extends beyond entertainment to fostering an inclusive environment where creativity, sustainability, and local culture thrive. The venue aims to be an essential social hub where people from all walks of life can gather to enjoy live performances, socialize over drinks, and participate in friendly competition on the bowling lanes.
The Barback role at Brooklyn Bowl Philadelphia is critical to ensuring the seamless operation of the bars and the overall guest experience. This position involves maintaining the bar service equipment and supplies, setting up and breaking down bar areas, and upholding impeccable cleanliness standards throughout shifts. The Barback supports bartenders by replenishing stocks, preparing cocktail garnishes like fruit and vegetable cuts, and ensuring that all bar areas operate efficiently and hygienically. Because Brooklyn Bowl prides itself on offering a superior guest experience, the Barback must be proactive, attentive, and capable of performing multiple tasks in a fast-paced, often noisy, and vibrant environment. This role requires a thorough knowledge of beer, wine, spirits, and cocktails, underpinning the ability to assist bartenders effectively and help manage inventory and stock levels.
In addition to maintaining the physical bar environment, the Barback also plays an essential role in communication, responding swiftly to guest concerns or operational issues and collaborating with management and team members to provide outstanding service. This position demands physical stamina due to extensive periods of standing, lifting weights up to 100 pounds, and moving throughout the venue amid loud music, smoke, and busy crowds. Flexibility in schedule—including availability for weekends, holidays, and late hours—is necessary to accommodate the dynamic nature of entertainment venues.
Joining Brooklyn Bowl Philadelphia means being part of a passionate team that respects diverse cultures, music, and artistic expression. The work environment is fast-paced and engaging, offering a perfect setting for individuals who thrive on teamwork, guest interaction, and a dynamic workplace. The venue provides competitive compensation, opportunities for professional career development, and additional employee benefits that support the growth and wellbeing of its staff. Individuals who are enthusiastic about the nightlife industry, enjoy working with people, and value a lively, inclusive environment are encouraged to apply and become part of an extraordinary entertainment experience.
