Job Description

The Ruby Hotel is a charming boutique hotel located on Brushy Creek in Round Rock, Texas, just minutes away from the vibrant city of Austin. As an independent hotel, The Ruby Hotel prides itself on delivering warm hospitality, thoughtful service, and creating a welcoming environment for all its guests. This commitment to excellence is matched by its dedication to fostering a progressive and supportive workplace for its team members. Known for its unique blend of cozy ambiance and personalized guest experiences, The Ruby Hotel stands out as a top choice for travelers seeking comfort and exceptional service in the Austin metropolitan area.

The Ruby Hotel is currently seeking a dependable and energetic Barback to join its hospitality team. This key role supports bar and service operations and plays an essential part in the overall guest experience. As a Barback, you will work closely with bartenders, chefs, and the service team to ensure smooth bar operations, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organization, and professionalism. Your contributions directly impact guest satisfaction by facilitating prompt service and maintaining a well-stocked and clean bar environment.

In this role, you will be responsible for preparing the bar for service, including setting up and breaking down service areas, as well as bussing tables and cleaning bar tools and glassware. Supporting bartenders and chefs with prep work is a key component of your duties, along with running food and drinks to guests efficiently. Maintaining the cleanliness of the bar, restocking supplies such as beer and wine throughout service, and ensuring tools like soda guns and blenders are in proper working order are essential tasks within your scope.

Beyond physical responsibilities, the Barback must also uphold The Ruby Hotel's core hospitality values. This includes making eye contact with guests, engaging warmly with a smile, using polite and professional communication, and ensuring that every guest feels genuinely welcome and cared for. The Barback occasionally assists with guest service by taking food and drink orders and is responsible for notifying management if a guest becomes intoxicated or disruptive, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all.

The ideal candidate is highly dependable, comfortable working in close quarters with coworkers and guests, and has the physical ability to lift, carry, and move items as needed during fast-paced service. The Barback must also have TABC certification as a requirement to operate within Texas's legal framework for alcohol service. Additionally, team members are expected to maintain strict uniform and grooming standards, presenting a clean and professional appearance at all times.

At The Ruby Hotel, each team member embodies a culture of attentiveness and accountability. Wearing neat and pressed uniforms, staying engaged and friendly, and maintaining knowledge of food and beverage menus and inventory all contribute to a team-oriented atmosphere focused on exceeding guest expectations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to grow within a supportive and dynamic hospitality environment, where your efforts are valued and recognized.

If you are passionate about hospitality, thrive in a lively setting, and want to be part of a committed team dedicated to exceptional guest service, consider applying for the Barback position at The Ruby Hotel. This role not only allows you to develop essential skills in food and beverage support but also lets you contribute to an outstanding guest experience in one of Texas's most welcoming boutique hotels.
