Starwood Hotels is a renowned luxury hotel brand management company that has been a prominent name in the hospitality industry since its founding in 2006 by Barry Sternlicht. As an affiliate of the global private investment firm Starwood Capital Group, Starwood Hotels operates with a clear mission to create exceptional experiences for its guests while fostering a vibrant and inclusive community of employees. The company is deeply committed to sustainability and environmental stewardship, believing in a world that is beautiful and worthy of preservation. This ethos extends beyond just customer service to the very core of its operations, ensuring that each team member is aligned with the values of collaboration, respect for nature, and delivering stellar service.
Life at Starwood Hotels revolves around the philosophy that the world is beautiful and it is a shared responsibility to keep it that way. The company's culture emphasizes thoughtful and inspiring leadership, teamwork, and a commitment to excellence in hospitality. Starwood Hotels is dedicated to building a diverse and sustainable workforce that is empowered and inclusive, aligning with their corporate values to provide equal opportunity employment. This approach creates a supportive environment where employees can grow both personally and professionally while contributing positively to the community and environment.
The Barback role at Starwood Hotels is a pivotal position within the beverage service team. As a Barback, you will be an essential support to the bartenders, ensuring the smooth operation of the bar by assisting with all beverage service tasks. This includes setting up the bar area, replenishing inventory, preparing garnishes, managing ice supply, and supporting bartenders during service. This role is designed for individuals who are organized, proactive, and enthusiastic about working in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
In this position, you will be expected to assist bartenders before and after service by arranging bottles, glassware, and bar tools, ensuring that every item is in its place and ready for use. You will also take responsibility for stocking and replenishing bar inventory such as liquor, mixers, and garnishes to maintain efficiency during service hours. Preparing fresh and attractive garnishes according to established recipes enhances the guest experience and supports the bartenders in delivering high-quality drinks.
Managing the ice supply is another critical duty, including filling ice bins and ensuring ice machines are functioning properly. During service, the barback provides ongoing support by fetching and carrying items, clearing empty glasses and bottles, and responding to guest requests promptly. The role requires adherence to all safety and security policies, proper storage of flammable materials, and reporting any maintenance or safety issues.
Starwood Hotels expects all team members to maintain professional appearance and confidentiality regarding proprietary information. As a representative of the brand, the Barback will embody the company’s vision, mission, and core values, delivering good-natured service that aligns with Starwood’s promise and brand pillars. The ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with flexible scheduling, including holidays and weekends, is essential due to the nature of hospitality operations.
This role offers an opportunity to join a leading company known for its commitment to quality, sustainability, and team member development. As part of the Starwood Hotels team, you will be empowered to contribute to an exceptional guest experience while advancing your career in the hospitality industry.
