The Bar Assistant position at Atlas Restaurant Group plays a crucial supporting role in ensuring the bar operates smoothly and efficiently. This role is designed for individuals who are enthusiastic about the hospitality industry, eager to learn, and dedicated to providing excellent customer service. As a Bar Assistant, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness, replenishing bar supplies such as garnishes, napkins, straws, glassware, and other necessities, as well as assisting bartenders in performing their duties. You will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced bar environment while learning about menu items and cocktail recipes. Additionally, this role offers exposure to operating a Point of Sale (POS) system, helping you develop essential skills in bar operations.

Working under the direction of bartenders, the Bar Assistant will facilitate the opening and closing of the bar, ensure inventory is adequately stocked, check the functionality of bar equipment, and maintain a clean and sanitary environment. This role requires attention to detail, multitasking abilities, and a proactive attitude to keep the bar area organized and ready at all times.

Compensation for this role varies by location, with hourly wages ranging from $3.63 plus tips in Maryland to $14.00 per hour in Delaware, reflecting local wage requirements. The position involves shifts primarily during nights, weekends, and holidays, aligning with the hospitality industry's busy hours.

Job Requirements

  • 1-year experience required
  • Meets state minimum age (18) to serve alcohol

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, etc. for extended periods, and lift up to 40 lbs

Job Duties

  • Assisting with opening and closing duties such restocking the bar with garnishes, straws, and napkins, ensuring that Bartenders have clean towels, glassware, etc
  • Ensuring bar is well-stocked with ice, liquor, wine, and beer
  • Checking taps and appliances to confirm that they are working properly, making minor repairs or changing out kegs, if needed
  • Keeping the bar clean by wiping down surfaces, sweeping and mopping, removing soiled glassware, scrubbing coolers and storage areas, and emptying trash receptacles
  • Perform bussing responsibilities such as clearing empty cups and trash from bar top and tables
  • Learning about menu items and memorizing cocktail recipes
  • assist bartender while learning to navigate the POS
  • Perform daily and weekly cleaning duties
