Job Description
SUZU Hospitality is an exciting new venture bringing a modern take on Japanese hospitality and cuisine to Madisonville, Cincinnati. Set to open in early 2026, SUZU embodies a unique blend of innovation and tradition, inspired by the craftsmanship, flavors, and contemporary dining culture of Japan. As part of a growing hospitality group with a footprint across the United States, SUZU is committed to delivering exceptional food, authentic hospitality, and a guest experience that is seamless, thoughtful, and inviting. The company fosters a professional, respectful, and collaborative work environment where every team member—whether in the front or back of house—plays an essential role. SUZU Hospitality values inclusivity and equal opportunity, dedicated to cultivating an inclusive workplace where all employees can thrive and grow continuously.
The role of Bar Assistant (Barback) at SUZU is integral to the flawless execution of the beverage program. This position ensures that the bar is fully stocked, impeccably clean, and service-ready at all times, supporting bartenders to deliver outstanding service. The Bar Assistant takes responsibility for preparing garnishes, juices, syrups, and mixers according to high standards, stocking liquor, beer, wine, glassware, ice, and supplies before and during service. Maintaining cleanliness and organization behind the bar—including washing and polishing glassware, managing work surfaces, coolers, and service stations—is a key component of this role. The candidate also anticipates the needs of bartenders in real time, assists with running drinks and clearing glassware, and helps sustain the flow and pace during peak service.
Safety, hygiene, and professionalism are paramount, as the Bar Assistant must adhere stringently to sanitation protocols, handle equipment and alcohol responsibly, and maintain a polished appearance and professional demeanor. This role offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fine dining environment, learn about Japanese hospitality standards, and grow within the company with potential advancement to Bartender and Bar Supervisor positions. Compensation includes a base wage of $5.50 per hour plus tips, with a guarantee that combined earnings meet or exceed Ohio's full minimum wage of $11.00 per hour. Flexible full-time or part-time employment options are available, providing a supportive and respectful workplace with ongoing training and staff development. SUZU invites hardworking, anticipatory individuals who are eager to learn and grow in the hospitality industry to join their team and contribute to a premier, innovative dining experience in Cincinnati.
