The role of Bar Assistant (Barback) at SUZU is integral to the flawless execution of the beverage program. This position ensures that the bar is fully stocked, impeccably clean, and service-ready at all times, supporting bartenders to deliver outstanding service. The Bar Assistant takes responsibility for preparing garnishes, juices, syrups, and mixers according to high standards, stocking liquor, beer, wine, glassware, ice, and supplies before and during service. Maintaining cleanliness and organization behind the bar—including washing and polishing glassware, managing work surfaces, coolers, and service stations—is a key component of this role. The candidate also anticipates the needs of bartenders in real time, assists with running drinks and clearing glassware, and helps sustain the flow and pace during peak service.

Safety, hygiene, and professionalism are paramount, as the Bar Assistant must adhere stringently to sanitation protocols, handle equipment and alcohol responsibly, and maintain a polished appearance and professional demeanor. Compensation includes a base wage of $5.50 per hour plus tips, with a guarantee that combined earnings meet or exceed Ohio's full minimum wage of $11.00 per hour.
