Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior banquet or convention services experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate verbally with guests and team members
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Basic math skills
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Completion of TIPS alcohol awareness certification
  • Valid or ability to obtain Food Handlers Card within 30 days
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • Ability to work varying schedules including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Maintain professional appearance
  • Willingness to wear non-slip, oil resistant shoes
  • Adherence to all safety and hygiene protocols

Job Qualifications

  • Prior banquet or convention services experience at comparable property desired
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service standards of comparable hotel
  • Knowledge of guest relations and etiquette
  • Ability to serve guests through verbal face-to-face interactions
  • Positive attitude and professional demeanor
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to a high level of guest satisfaction
  • Ability to perform basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Ability to carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions
  • Ability to resolve problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Proficient in English speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules including holidays, weekends, and alternate shifts
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must complete TIPS alcohol awareness certification as scheduled upon employment
  • Valid current Food Handlers Card or willingness to obtain within 30 days of employment
  • Knowledge of applicable health standards, laws, ordinances, and regulations regarding serving alcohol to minors and intoxicated patrons
  • Maintain a clean appearance and professional demeanor

Job Duties

  • Serve customers at assigned station quickly, courteously, and efficiently
  • Obtain food and beverage from prescribed locations and serve using appropriate service techniques
  • Keep glasses filled throughout the meal
  • Observe guests to fulfill additional requests and note when meal is finished
  • Assist other servers to ensure efficient service
  • Complete assigned side work as directed
  • Set dining tables to established standards
  • Remove any dinnerware, glassware, flatware and linens that do not meet cleanliness and appearance standards
  • Familiarize with daily menu items and event prospectus
  • Clean up service and accessories after events
  • Clear dirty dishes from tables as guests finish courses
  • Prepare coffee service with appropriate food and beverages
  • Follow all standard food handling, TIPS, sanitation and health guidelines
  • Wear non-slip, oil resistant shoes and follow all safety policies and procedures
  • Report potential safety issues and take immediate action in emergencies
  • Maintain a neat, clean, organized, safe and comfortable environment for guests
  • Assist with setup and breakdown of function space
  • Notify management of unsafe conditions, equipment maintenance needs, and accidents
  • Ensure minors and intoxicated persons are not served alcoholic beverages
  • Notify management of guest complaints, intoxication, or disruptive behavior
