The Pastry Cook role at Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel is a critical position within the culinary team responsible for all prep and production related to the pastry operation, maintaining the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and safety. This culinary expert will work closely with the Chef and other culinary staff to ensure that all pastry products meet Omni’s refined culinary standards. The role requires a strong understanding of food and beverage menus, exceptional baking and pastry skills, and the ability to work efficiently under the demanding conditions of a large luxury hotel’s kitchen. This position involves managing the preparation, production, and presentation of pastries, desserts, and related items in a timely manner to satisfy guests and meet hotel standards.

The Pastry Cook ensures compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations and prepares the workspace for various inspections. Responsibilities include proper labeling, storage, and organization of all pastry ingredients and finished products, adhering to FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory standards. The position also demands active participation in menu planning, contributing creative ideas aligned with current market trends to enhance menu offerings and maximize sales opportunities. The cook will be expected to maintain all relevant kitchen equipment and ensure that the work environment is safe, clean, and organized.

Additional duties include handling side work such as cleaning kitchen and food service equipment, maintaining food prep areas, and assisting in receiving and stocking supplies. The Pastry Cook plays a pivotal role in delivering excellent guest service by responding effectively to guest feedback and complaints with professionalism and courtesy. This role requires flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and high-profile events, demanding a proactive approach and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum 2 years cooking experience in luxury hotel environment
  • Serve Safe certification

Job Duties

  • Consistent maintenance and refinement of service standards

  • provide culinary production support for high-end events
  • attend daily stand-up meetings
