Among its distinguished collection is JW Marriott, a luxury brand that boasts more than 100 stunning properties located in key gateway cities and exclusive resort destinations worldwide. JW Marriott prides itself on a commitment to luxury, innovation, and personalized service, driven by a legacy that dates back to the company founder, J. Willard Marriott. Known for its sophisticated ambiance and dedication to holistic well-being, JW Marriott fosters an environment where employees are supported to grow both professionally and personally. The company believes deeply in the philosophy that happy associates create happy guests, an ethos reflected in its supportive workplace culture, robust training opportunities, and inclusive community environment. Marriott offers competitive compensation packages, and this includes a full-time management position offering an annual salary range of $74,000 to $93,000, with eligibility for bonuses. Located at 540 N Michigan Ave, Chicago, Illinois, this role is on-site and requires hands-on leadership and management in the field of event management within the hospitality sector.
The Event Manager role at JW Marriott is a pivotal management position that entails directing and motivating a team to deliver high-quality service that meets rigorous standards and specific event requirements. This role demands a comprehensive approach to overseeing banquet operations and event execution, encompassing financial oversight, administrative responsibilities, and asset protection. The Event Manager is expected to foster clear and effective communication with all stakeholders involved in the success of events, ensuring flawless coordination and exceptional service delivery. A key component of this position is strategic planning for team training and development to meet the evolving goals of the department and the organization. The successful candidate will be proficient in projecting supply needs, managing staff scheduling to maximize profits, and applying knowledge of compliance with laws related to event management. By maintaining strict adherence to sanitation standards, managing banquet beverage costs and inventories, and building lasting relationships with clients, the Event Manager directly influences the company's growth and guest satisfaction.
Leadership extends beyond operational tasks in this role, encompassing team motivation through goal setting, conducting regular staff meetings, and actively participating in event service. The candidate will act as a liaison between banquet and kitchen teams, applying expertise in current culinary trends and food and wine pairings to enhance event experiences. The role places a strong emphasis on exceptional customer service, requiring the manager to set a positive example, interact directly with guests to gather feedback, resolve complaints, and empower employees to meet and exceed service expectations. Continuous improvement in service performance is a core expectation, with structured reviews of guest satisfaction data and proactive adjustments to address areas for enhancement.
Human resource activities are integral to the position, including ensuring all team members are trained in emergency and safety procedures, providing individual feedback, monitoring staff progress, and participating in the development and implementation of corrective action plans. Engagement in departmental and property-wide meetings supports alignment with corporate goals and service standards. Marriott International is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to fostering an inclusive and diverse work environment, valuing the unique backgrounds and experiences of its associates. Compassion, innovation, and a framework that encourages growth and recognition make JW Marriott a premier employer within the luxury hospitality market. Joining JW Marriott means becoming part of a global team committed to nurturing your potential while delivering unforgettable hospitality experiences. This role is an outstanding opportunity for professionals passionate about event management and hospitality leadership to advance their careers in a dynamic and supportive setting.
