We are currently seeking a skilled Banquet Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The Banquet Sous Chef will manage and mentor kitchen staff including line cooks, production cooks, breakfast buffet attendants, and stewards to ensure smooth operations during the service day. They will be responsible for training newcomers, maintaining kitchen equipment, and following state health codes meticulously. This role includes overseeing daily vendor orders and managing storage spaces such as coolers and storerooms efficiently. Planning and preparing special event menus, including holiday brunches and buffets, also form an integral part of the responsibilities.

Holding this position requires an individual with strong leadership skills, an ability to multitask effectively, and a sharp eye for detail, especially in food presentation and plating designs. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in a culinary role preferred
  • ability to work long hours, including weekends, evenings and holidays
  • strong understanding of food safety and sanitation standards
  • excellent communication skills including verbal and written
  • ability to identify and resolve kitchen equipment issues
  • willingness to train and mentor other staff
  • ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED a plus but not required

  • must be able to work long hours, weekends, evenings and holidays
  • must have a high standard of cleanliness and understanding of food safety practices
  • must be clear and concise with verbal and written communication including emails
  • must understand all kitchen equipment and communicate issues with the engineering department

Job Duties

  • Sets up and execute hot food for restaurant
  • sets up and execute breakfast hot food for banquet events
  • responsible for managing all line cooks, production cooks, breakfast buffet attendants and stewards
  • responsible for training and mentoring all hourly associates
  • addressing all kitchen-related problems and incidences in a timely and effective manner
  • completes all opening, daily, and weekly checklists when necessary
  • understands state health codes and follows all company standard operating procedures
