The Banquet Server position at Lessing's Hospitality Group offers an exciting opportunity to work within one of the company's premier catering venues. This role is integral to the success of banquet functions, directly impacting guest satisfaction through attentive and courteous service. The position is hourly paid, starting at $11.00 per hour plus tips in New York, with the assurance that if combined wages and tips fall below minimum wage, the hourly pay will be adjusted accordingly. As a Banquet Server, your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of duties designed to create a positive and memorable experience for guests. You'll be expected to assist banquet managers in serving guests during events, set up banquet rooms according to specified requirements including arranging glassware, service ware, and linen, and participate in pre-event roll call meetings to understand the specifics of each function. Exceptional guest interaction skills are vital, as you'll greet and welcome attendees, respond promptly to their requests, and serve food and beverages in an orderly and professional manner. Ensuring compliance with all legal requirements related to serving alcoholic beverages is also a critical aspect of the job.

Post-event responsibilities include efficiently clearing dishes and resetting the banquet room in preparation for subsequent events. The Banquet Server role demands reliability and punctuality, as consistent attendance and a strong work ethic are essential to maintaining smooth operations. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior hospitality or banquet serving experience preferred
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and carry moderate loads
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

Job Qualifications

  • Hospitality experience preferred
  • Must be willing to relate cordially with other members of the team and help co-workers with their job duties
  • Must have basic knowledge of service standards, guest relations, food and beverage preparations as well as etiquette

Job Duties

  • Provide assistance to banquet managers in the serving of guests during banquet functions to ensure positive guest experience
  • Set up banquet room as requested by the supervisor to include glassware, service ware, and linen
  • Attend roll call meetings before events start in order to learn function particulars, including hotel and guest expectations
  • Greet and welcome guests and respond to their requests in a courteous and friendly manner
  • Serve the beverage and food in the appropriate order and in tune with the expectation of the supervisor so as to ensure consistency throughout the banquet
  • Quickly remove dishes as guests finish each meal at the end of each meal or function
  • Abide by all corporate act, laws and requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages
  • Replenish beverages when necessary, and check with guests to make sure they are satisfied
  • After the banquet, reset banquet room in accordance with the supervisor's specifications to ensure the readiness of the room for other functions
  • Follow attendance rules and always go to work on a regular basis
  • Perform other related functions that may be assigned
