The Banquet Porter position at the Orange County Convention Center is an on-call part-time role that pays $18.50 per hour. This position plays a vital part in delivering seamless banquet and catering services during events by leading the service team on the floor, coordinating tasks, and ensuring adherence to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs). The Banquet Porter acts as the primary service leader for assigned events, overseeing Banquet Servers and other porters to guarantee timely and quality service. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred
  • 1-3 years of banquet, catering, or food and beverage service experience
  • prior lead or captain experience in a banquet or event environment preferred
  • must meet minimum age requirements to serve alcohol based on local and state regulations
  • must maintain a valid TIPS, TEAM, or equivalent alcohol-service certification
  • food handler certification may be required based on state or local regulations
  • ability to frequently lift and move up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
  • reliable attendance and punctuality

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, HACCP, and alcohol service policies
  • assist with training and onboarding of banquet service staff as directed
  • frequently lift and move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
  • actively participate in event setup, service, and breakdown
  • coordinate service execution and direct banquet servers and banquet porters
  • communicate effectively with banquet supervisor, culinary team, and service staff to ensure smooth event execution
