The role of Prep Cook at The Oncenter, working under the direction of the Executive Chef, is a part-time, non-exempt position designed to support the culinary operations with less than 30 hours per week. With pay rates ranging from $19.09 to $22.61 per hour depending on the level, this opportunity is ideal for individuals passionate about food preparation and culinary excellence. This position is pivotal in the kitchen environment, responsible for preparing ingredients, assisting in cooking, baking, and butchering tasks, all while ensuring that quality and presentation standards meet the expectations set by the establishment. The Prep Cook is crucial to maintaining kitchen efficiency and the overall success of banquet and food service operations at The Oncenter.

In this role, employees will be expected to prepare food products following strict guidelines and specifications, fulfill event orders promptly, and support culinary staff in delivering high-quality dishes. Working with various kitchen tools such as grills, fryers, and knives, the Prep Cook will play an integral role in food preparation for banquet food service. The responsibilities include breaking down stations, properly storing foods, and maintaining cleanliness and organization according to Health Department and ServSafe standards. Additionally, collaboration with management for regular inventory checks and the flexibility to adapt to changes in a dynamic work environment are essential components of this role. Job Duties

  • Prepare food products as directed while maintaining strict adherence to standards and specifications
  • fulfill event orders and other service requests from each department timely and accurately
  • prepare and cook food as needed using grills, fryer, knives, etc
  • prep all necessary food items for banquet food service as directed
  • produce high-quality food with excellent taste and follow presentation standards
  • break down stations, store all food properly, and clean work areas and equipment in accordance with Health Department and ServSafe standards and regulations
  • work with management to conduct inventory on a regular basis
  • must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment, managing, competing demands, frequent changes, delays or unexpected events
  • other assigned duties as required to support Food & Beverage operations
