The Banquet Cook position at SRP is a unique opportunity to be part of a collaborative hospitality team dedicated to delivering high-quality dining experiences during meetings, events, and special functions. This role requires a customer-focused individual skilled in culinary preparation, who will work closely with other kitchen professionals to ensure meals are prepared to standardized recipes and quality benchmarks. The Banquet Cook is essential in maintaining consistent quality and presentation standards while adhering strictly to food safety regulations. The position demands high attention to detail, the ability to work under pressure, and the willingness to support the broader kitchen team. Alongside meal preparation, the cook will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitary conditions of the kitchen and equipment, monitoring food safety, and reporting any safety or maintenance concerns. This role requires standing for extended periods, moving objects weighing up to 25 pounds, and performing various kitchen duties as directed by supervisors. It is ideal for someone motivated by the fast pace of banquet services and passionate about culinary excellence. A minimum of two years of relevant experience in banquet kitchen operations and a high school diploma or equivalent are required, alongside a current Arizona Food Handlers card or the ability to obtain one before starting. Job Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience as a line cook in a banquet kitchen
- Must have or be able to obtain a current AZ Food Handlers card prior to starting
- Ability to stand for long hours
- Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance
- Ability to maintain composure under pressure
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience as a line cook in a banquet kitchen
- Experience with culinary skills including portion and presentation standards
- Ability to prepare and follow recipes
- Current AZ Food Handlers card or ability to obtain one prior to starting
Job Duties
- Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist
- Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers
- Test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently
- Monitor food quality while preparing it
- Wash and disinfect kitchen area, tables, tools, knives, and equipment
- Check and ensure the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food
- Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance
- Assist in other areas of the kitchen as needed
- Adhere to state and local health and safety regulations
- Maintain composure and objectivity under pressure
- Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisor
