Job Description
Crown Block, located in Dallas, Texas, has rapidly distinguished itself as the city’s premier fine dining destination since its opening. This sought-after restaurant is the latest endeavor by James Beard Award-nominated hospitality veterans, Elizabeth Blau and Chef Kim Canteenwalla, who are renowned for their exceptional culinary expertise and pioneering vision in the hospitality industry. Their company, Blau + Associates, based in Las Vegas, brings a unique blend of innovation and tradition to every establishment they create, and Crown Block is no exception. The restaurant transcends the conventional steakhouse concept by offering a sophisticated yet inviting atmosphere that appeals to a wide range of guests, including food enthusiasts and casual diners alike.
Crown Block’s menu reflects a harmonious balance between impeccable steak offerings, fresh seafood, and innovative plant-based dishes. The ingredients are meticulously sourced from regional farms, local ranches, and the nearby Gulf of Mexico, ensuring both quality and sustainability. The restaurant’s signature Rare Steak program stands out with an impressive variety of selections such as Prime Beef, Texas Wagyu, and the coveted Japanese A5 Wagyu, catering to the most discerning palates. Guests can also experience an exquisite sushi and chilled seafood display that accentuates the freshness and creativity of the menu. In addition, the dessert bar offers a visual and flavorful treat, where skilled pastry chefs prepare decadent sweets in full view of diners. Complementing the culinary experience is an extensive wine list paired thoughtfully with a carefully curated cocktail menu, which aims to elevate the dining experience from start to finish.
The Banquet Chef role at Crown Block encompasses responsibility for both the Crow Block Restaurant and Crown Room Events, spearheading culinary efforts aimed at delivering creative, profitable, and high-quality banquet menus. This full-time position reports directly to the Executive Chef and requires an individual who is passionate about fine cuisine and hospitality. The Banquet Chef plays a pivotal role in maintaining operational efficiency within budgetary constraints and ensures that the banquet kitchen delivers exceptional cuisine and presentation standards. This dynamic position involves supervising all kitchen operations for banquet and in-room dining services, establishing prep schedules, monitoring inventory and food costs, and fostering communication throughout the culinary team and other departments.
Versatility and adaptability are key, as the Banquet Chef will work in varied environments, both on and off-premise, maintaining the quality of all culinary outputs in keeping with Crown Block's reputation. Working collaboratively with a professional team, the Banquet Chef will train staff to deliver consistent excellence, manage staffing needs efficiently, and contribute actively to menu and overall operational development. The role also demands a proactive approach to health regulations and compliance standards, ensuring a safe and hygienic work environment.
This position offers a competitive annual salary ranging between $60,000 and $70,000, with an attractive benefits package including dental, health, and vision insurance, paid time off, free shift meals, and promotional opportunities. Crown Block provides an environment that encourages growth, creativity, and leadership in the culinary arts, making it an ideal career destination for individuals dedicated to excelling in fine dining and banquet cuisine management.
