The Banquet Captain role is a pivotal position within Hyatt's food and beverage operations, responsible for overseeing banquet functions to ensure they are not only successful but also visually appealing and seamlessly executed from start to finish. This role requires a detail-oriented and proactive individual who can manage banquet preparation, coordinate event setups including linens and table settings, design food stations, and ensure beverage service aligns with Hyatt’s high standards.

The Banquet Captain is expected to lead and mentor banquet staff, assisting in scheduling and providing training to deliver exemplary service. Maintaining a clean and sanitary event space is a key responsibility, as is adhering to proper food handling and beverage service protocols. This role demands excellent communication skills to effectively understand and address guest and coworker concerns, fostering a collaborative team environment. This is a full-time hourly position with a competitive wage of $17.50 per hour, reflective of the expertise and leadership expected in the role.

Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • a true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment
  • experience and a thorough understanding of banquet service
  • 3+ years of related F&B and/or hospitality-related experience
  • 2+ years in banquet captain or catering supervisor role
  • 2+ years supervisory experience, skills and abilities
  • excellent verbal communication skills

Job Duties

  • must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests
  • lead associates by coaching, giving direction, including training
  • responsible for making the function space visually appealing
  • presenting the menu offering for the event
  • may include linen and table setting, food station design, and beverage service
  • clean what you are able to, use housekeeping as a resource for help when needed
  • assist with monthly inventory
  • adhere to proper food handling procedures and proper beverage procedures
  • proper knowledge of equipment uses and safety procedures
  • other duties include general banquet preparation, room refreshes, and maintaining a sanitary environment
  • all other duties as assigned by leadership
