One of Pyramid Global Hospitality's distinguished properties is THesis Hotel Miami, located in Coral Gables, Florida. This vibrant hotel features 245 stylish guest rooms and over 15,000 square feet of versatile meeting space, making it a dynamic and lively work environment surrounded by Miami's unique cultural richness. THesis Hotel Miami prides itself on outstanding service and memorable guest experiences across various departments including guest services, food and beverage, housekeeping, spa and wellness, and sales and marketing. Currently, THesis Hotel Miami is seeking a highly motivated Banquet Captain to join their team on a part-time basis with hourly pay ranging from $15.00 to $19.00. The Banquet Captain is a pivotal role responsible for directing the setup and preparation of banquet rooms for events, executing food and beverage service, bussing and clearing tables, and leading the hourly banquet service staff including servers and housemen. This position acts as the property’s personal representative towards banquet guests, coordinating room setup and service to enhance guest satisfaction and maximize revenues.
The role demands leadership in high volume catering and banquet events, requiring experience in synchronized service often seen in 4-star and 5-star venues. The Banquet Captain prepares banquet spaces with draped tables, silverware, folded napkins, drink preparation, and table centerpieces. They actively engage in service by transporting food, serving guests, clearing tables, and breakdown duties including bussing tables, managing dirty linen, vacuuming, and organizing storerooms. The Banquet Captain also supports event room setup and handles food and beverage preparation duties such as condiments and coffee brewing. They ensure all service stations are properly stocked and maintain cleanliness in the back hall.
This role places significant emphasis on guest interaction, requiring the ability to explain menu items, accommodate dietary needs and special requests, and provide warm hospitality with a professional demeanor. The Banquet Captain ensures quality checks on food and beverages prior to service, monitors guest satisfaction, addresses any issues promptly, and cooperates with other departments for seamless event execution. Safety is also a primary responsibility, requiring vigilance towards potential hazards.
Ideal candidates will bring 2-4 years of food service experience, preferably in banquet service, with knowledge of wine, beer, cocktails, and spirits. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-4 years of relevant food service experience
- Experience in banquet service
- Knowledge of beverage preparation including wine, beer, and cocktails
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills

Job Duties
- Set up banquet rooms including draping tables, setting silverware, folding napkins, preparing drinks, placing table centerpieces
- Serve food and beverages to banquet guests by picking up food from back hall, carrying trays, serving, and clearing tables
- Assist with breaking down events including bussing tables, handling dirty linen and centerpieces, vacuuming, and organizing storerooms
- Prepare and stock food and beverage stations, including condiments and coffee brewing
- Provide guest service by explaining menu items, accommodating special requests and dietary needs, and offering warm welcome and farewell
- Lead and coordinate banquet service staff and housemen to ensure synchronized and high-quality service
- Monitor guest satisfaction, conduct final quality checks on food and beverages, and promptly resolve guest issues
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in banquet service areas and back hall
- Assist other event and restaurant staff as needed
