Job Description

Currently, HMC is seeking a skilled and dedicated Banquet Captain to join the team at the Marriott Greece. This role is pivotal in providing leadership and direction to banquet staff while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and guest services throughout all banquet functions. The Banquet Captain will play an integral role in planning, organizing, and executing a wide range of food and beverage services, overseeing the setup and cleanup to ensure seamless operation. This position demands exceptional supervision skills with a focus on maintaining high standards in food and beverage service, welcoming clients, and anticipating guest needs to deliver a memorable experience.

The Banquet Captain’s responsibilities include leading banquet setup, service, and breakdown in accordance with Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), ensuring tables, settings, and buffet stations are perfectly arranged and clean, and supervising banquet staff to provide professional, timely, and friendly service. The successful candidate will manage beverage service, including alcoholic beverages, and ensure compliance with industry standards and legal guidelines. Additionally, this role involves maintaining the cleanliness and organization of work areas, monitoring inventory, reporting necessary repairs, and enforcing proper cash handling procedures.

Qualified candidates must have at least a high school diploma or GED, with a minimum of two years of experience in banquet food service. Certification in TIPS or CARE (or an equivalent qualification) and the legal age to serve alcohol (at least 21 years old) are required. Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, are essential, along with knowledge of various food service styles such as French, Russian, Family Style, and Butler style service. The ideal Banquet Captain will bring a customer-oriented mindset, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure to ensure the highest levels of guest satisfaction.

Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Lead banquet setup, service, and breakdown based on Banquet Event Orders (BEOs)
  • ensure tables, settings, and buffet stations are properly arranged, clean, and uniform
  • supervise banquet staff and assist with service to ensure guest satisfaction
  • maintain cleanliness and organization of all work areas and equipment
  • prepare, serve, and monitor beverage service, including alcoholic drinks, in accordance with standards
  • set up and maintain coffee breaks and special event stations
  • assist guests with requests and ensure timely, professional service throughout events
  • oversee equipment maintenance, report repairs, and monitor inventory of banquet supplies
  • maintain knowledge of menu items and event details to answer guest questions confidently
  • enforce proper cash handling and alcohol service procedures
