Job Description
The hiring company is a reputable and customer-focused retail establishment that specializes in bakery products, committed to providing an exceptional shopping experience to its customers. Known for its dedication to quality and community engagement, the company fosters an environment where respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety are core values actively demonstrated by all team members. As a bakery department within a larger store, this company blends traditional customer service principles with modern retail practices to ensure customers feel welcomed, valued, and satisfied with their purchases.
The role being offered is that of a Bakery Associate, a vital position responsible for creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. This role entails assisting the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals while maintaining high standards for quality assurance. The Bakery Associate must embrace the company's Customer 1st strategy, encouraging associates to maintain excellent customer service. This position demands attention to detail, a proactive approach to safety and cleanliness, and consistent delivery of fresh, appealing bakery products.
The Bakery Associate is expected to possess foundational skills such as basic math knowledge, effective communication, and the ability to manage stressful situations efficiently. The job also requires a food handler's permit upon employment, underscoring the importance of food safety standards. Candidates with bakery or retail experience and those who are multilingual are highly valued.
Typical duties include preparing bakery items to customer specifications using appropriate equipment, handling product samples to introduce customers to new items, and maintaining product freshness by monitoring 'sell by' dates. The associate is also trained to proficiently use bakery equipment like refrigerators, freezers, ovens, slicers, and mixers, ensuring culinary quality and compliance with food safety regulations. This role involves packaging, labeling, and inventory management, reinforcing the need for organizational skills and attention to detail.
In addition to technical skills, the Bakery Associate must contribute to a safe and inclusive workspace by adhering to safety programs, identifying hazards, and reporting any irregular activities such as theft or fraud. The company prioritizes preventive maintenance by expecting associates to inspect equipment regularly and report needs for repair. They will be responsible for tracking food temperatures accurately, maintaining proper temperature logs, and ensuring products meet set freshness criteria.
This position offers a dynamic, customer-centric work environment within a supportive team setting. Employees in this role play a critical part in fostering trust and respect among their peers, delivering stellar customer service, and upholding the company’s core values which help make every customer visit a memorable and positive experience. The Bakery Associate’s contributions directly influence customer satisfaction, loyalty, and the overall success of the department and the store at large. This employment opportunity is ideal for individuals eager to grow their skills in food service, baking, and retail, while contributing positively to their community through daily interactions and quality food offerings.
