The role of Bakery Manager at Sprouts Farmers Market is a full-time position, offering a competitive hourly wage ranging from $19.50 to $29.15 based on experience and qualifications. This leadership role is crucial for driving the overall performance of the Bakery Department, ensuring that customers receive high-quality baked goods like cookies, bread, and muffins prepared with proven ingredients and expertise. The Bakery Manager is responsible for managing all daily bakery operations including baking, production, product quality control, inventory management, and department budgeting. They must ensure compliance with company standards including food safety, sanitation, proper food handling, and operational productivity.

In this role, the Bakery Manager leads a team to maintain optimal product presentation, coordinate ordering and receiving processes, and support merchandising efforts that maximize sales and profit margins. They play a key part in staffing by recruiting, hiring, coaching, and evaluating bakery team members, driving a culture of continuous improvement and employee development through feedback, performance reviews, and training. The position involves creating efficient work schedules and adjusting staffing levels to meet business needs in a fast-paced grocery environment.

The Bakery Manager also acts as a Key Carrier or Manager on Duty as needed, exercising independent judgment to manage team member concerns and enforce company policies, including disciplinary measures when necessary. This role requires excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to give and take direction while working collaboratively within a team. The Bakery Manager must also participate regularly in store meetings to align department goals with overall store objectives.

Job Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • have minimum 2 years retail grocery experience
  • possess dependability and reliability
  • able to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • display outgoing and friendly behavior
  • have good communication skills
  • able to answer phones and take special orders
  • capable of general housekeeping and sanitation tasks
  • operate bakery equipment such as knives and scales
  • able to stand for up to 3 hours continuously
  • able to lift and transfer items up to 40 lbs
  • adhere to food safety and health regulations
  • hold or obtain a Food Handlers permit
  • knowledge of personnel and financial reports

Job Duties

  • Manage the daily output baking, production, and display of bakery products
  • supervise and monitor product quality and consistency
  • track inventory and manage the bakery's budget
  • evaluate department conditions and develop improved practices and procedures
  • ensure compliance with safety, food handling, sanitation, and productivity standards
  • oversee ordering, receiving, unloading, and storage processes
  • execute rotation of merchandise and build displays
  • manage inventory, pricing integrity, merchandising, labor, and operational processes
  • plan and order to maximize sales and gross profit
  • engage and evaluate team members with coaching, feedback, and development discussions
  • attend and participate in in-store meetings
  • recruit, hire, and make promotion or transfer decisions
  • address team member concerns confidently
  • document corrective actions including coaching and discipline
  • create and adjust schedules and staffing levels
  • communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge
  • lead a team delivering quality products and customer experience
  • serve as Key Carrier or Manager on Duty as needed
