The Bakery Manager at Sprouts Farmers Market plays a pivotal role within the company, responsible for overseeing the entire Bakery Department to ensure the highest quality of baked goods and superior customer experiences. This full-time role offers competitive hourly pay ranging from $17.90 to $26.70, depending on experience and qualifications.
In this role, the Bakery Manager will manage daily baking operations including production, quality control, and display of bakery items such as cookies, bread, and muffins made with proven ingredients. The manager will track inventory, oversee the department's budget, and ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and regulatory standards. They will also be responsible for ordering, receiving, and storing ingredients and supplies, as well as merchandise rotation to maintain fresh and appealing bakery displays.
A critical element of the Bakery Manager position is supervising and developing the bakery team through coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations, ensuring a motivated and well-trained staff. This role requires strong leadership capabilities including recruiting, hiring, promoting team members, and addressing employee concerns proactively. The Bakery Manager also plays an important operational role as Key Carrier or Manager on Duty when needed, contributing to the overall success of the store.

Job Requirements
- be at least 18 years of age
- have minimum of 2 years retail grocery experience
- be dependable and reliable
- work flexible schedule that changes including nights, weekends, and holidays
- demonstrate outgoing and friendly behavior with positive attitude
- have good communication skills
- able to answer phones and take special orders
- perform general housekeeping duties including cleaning and sanitizing
- operate knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks as needed
- stand for up to 3 hours continuously within an 8-hour shift
- be able to transfer trays weighing up to 5 lbs vertically between 7 inches and 64 inches
- transfer items up to 40 lbs horizontally or vertically for up to 10 hours
- adhere to all safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations
- maintain a Food Handlers permit
- possess knowledge of personnel and margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals
Job Qualifications

- knowledge of scales and weight measures for accurate weighing and labeling of products
- able to stand for long periods and handle physical tasks such as lifting up to 40 lbs
- adhere to safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations
- maintain a Food Handlers permit
- possess working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals
Job Duties
- manage the daily output baking, production, and display of bakery products
- supervise and monitor product quality and consistency, track inventory, and manage the bakery's budget
- evaluate department conditions and operations to determine strengths and areas for improvement
- ensure company standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation, and productivity are maintained
- responsible for correct ordering, receiving, unloading, and storage
- execute rotation of merchandise and building of displays
- manage department inventory, in-stocks, pricing integrity, merchandising, labor, and operational processes to Sprouts standards
- plan and order according to company standards to maximize sales and gross profit
- engage and evaluate team members through coaching, feedback, and one-on-one development discussions
- recruit, hire and make promotion/transfer decisions in collaboration with the Store Manager
- confidently exercise independent judgment to address team member concerns
- take and document corrective actions including coaching, counseling, progressive discipline, suspension, or termination when needed
- create and adjust schedules and staffing levels to ensure maximum productivity
- communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members
- lead a team to deliver the finest quality products and highest level of customer service
- serve as a Key Carrier or Manager on Duty as needed
