  • Ability to perform physical tasks based on department requirements such as standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting up to 55 pounds

Job Duties

  • Provides superior customer service
  • Takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
  • Answers customer questions regarding products
  • assists them with selections
  • Prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product effectively
  • Slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality
  • Assists in technical areas as needed (e.g., basic set-up and clean-up processes)
  • Uses suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
  • Cleans and sanitizes display cases
  • Operates / maintains equipment properly
  • Complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
  • Complies with department / store operating procedures
  • Performs additional department-specific responsibilities such as bakery production recording and culling, deli service counter care, inventory management, prepared foods packaging and customer education
  • Performs sanitation and maintenance tasks for deli slicers if applicable
