Job Requirements
- Must be 18 or older
- Knowledge of computer systems and equipment (e.g., PC, symbol, scales, label machine)
- Strong customer service skills
- Communication and interpersonal skills
- Reading and writing skills
- Planning and organizing skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent
- Completion of company orientation upon hire
- Food safety and sanitation training upon hire
- Ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment
- Ability to stay attentive to customer needs
- Ability to perform physical tasks based on department requirements such as standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting up to 55 pounds

Job Duties
- Provides superior customer service
- Takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
- Answers customer questions regarding products
- assists them with selections
- Prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product effectively
- Slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality
- Assists in technical areas as needed (e.g., basic set-up and clean-up processes)
- Uses suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
- Cleans and sanitizes display cases
- Operates / maintains equipment properly
- Complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
- Complies with department / store operating procedures
- Performs additional department-specific responsibilities such as bakery production recording and culling, deli service counter care, inventory management, prepared foods packaging and customer education
- Performs sanitation and maintenance tasks for deli slicers if applicable
