The role of Bakery Clerk at Sprouts Farmers Market is a key position within their bakery department, tailor-made for individuals who have a passion for baking and customer service. This role involves preparing and baking a variety of items, including cookies, bread, and muffins using proven ingredients and recipes. As a Bakery Clerk, you will assist the Bakery Manager in multiple facets of the bakery operations such as preparing, packaging, pricing, and merchandising baked goods. Maintaining cleanliness, safety, and sanitation standards in the bakery area is also an essential responsibility to ensure the department is always presentable and compliant with health regulations. The position demands attention to detail by examining the rotation of bakery products, ensuring the freshness of stock, and discarding outdated or spoiled items. Additionally, the Bakery Clerk will handle receiving, inspecting, and logging bakery products to verify shipment accuracy, product temperature, and quality.

For compliance, the position mandates the adherence to all food safety, health, and weights and measures regulations while maintaining a Food Handler's permit.

Job Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Have 1-2 years bakery experience
- Be dependable and reliable
- Ability to work flexible schedule including night, weekends, and holidays
- Have an outgoing and friendly behavior
- Possess good communication skills
- Ability to operate bakery equipment and tools
- Ability to stand for up to 3 hours continuously during an 8-hour shift
- Ability to vertically transfer trays up to 5 lbs and items up to 40 lbs for extended periods without mechanical assistance
- Adhere to food safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations
- Maintain a Food Handler permit
Job Qualifications
- Be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent
- Have 1-2 years bakery experience or an acceptable combination of education and experience
- Be dependable and reliable with ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Demonstrate outgoing and friendly behavior with positive attitude and ability to interact with customers
- Possess good communication skills and ability to take direction and participate in a team environment
- Ability to answer phones and take special orders
- Ability to operate bakery equipment and tools
- Have a Food Handler permit or ability to obtain and maintain one
Job Duties
- Assist the Bakery Manager in preparing, baking, packaging, pricing, and merchandising all baked goods
- Provide high level of customer service ensuring bakery items are properly prepared, packaged, and presented
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and sanitation of bakery area and equipment including cleaning shelves, floors, and removing hazardous debris
- Stock, fill, face, and ensure pricing accuracy while examining product rotation and discarding spoiled items
- Receive, inspect, and log bakery products for shipment accuracy, temperature, and quality
- Answer phones and take special orders
- Operate bakery equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks as needed
