The associate serves as a knowledgeable resource by offering product samples, responding to customer queries, and assisting customers in locating or selecting bakery items that suit their needs. Beyond customer engagement, the associate contributes to leadership efforts by fostering a collaborative team environment, promoting respect, and ensuring clear communication regarding company policies and job-specific instructions.\n\nFinancial duties involve monitoring inventory levels, inspecting products, and taking necessary actions regarding product quality and freshness. The associate is responsible for preparing, packaging, labeling, and displaying bakery products correctly to optimize sales while minimizing waste through effective production planning and adherence to discard or markdown procedures. Adherence to food safety standards, proper temperature maintenance, and accurate record-keeping of temperature logs are also critical aspects of this role. The associate additionally upholds company and regulatory safety standards, practicing proper sanitation and safe food handling techniques aligned with USDA and Department of Agriculture regulations. The associate ensures timely execution of product recalls and withdrawal procedures, actively participates in safety training, and helps maintain a hazard-free working environment.\n\nThe position requires the capability to operate various bakery equipment, including slicers, ovens, scales, knives, box cutters, and pricing guns. Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, reaching, lifting, and performing repetitive hand and foot movements in indoor and variable conditions such as cold or wet environments. Candidates must be willing to work varied shifts with occasional requirement to sit, balance, stoop, or climb. Essential to the role is the associate’s strong interpersonal and communication skills, commitment to customer service excellence, and adherence to safety regulations. Job Duties

- maintain an awareness of inventory and stocking conditions and report any discrepancies
- review and inspect products for quality and freshness and take appropriate action
- prepare, package, label, and display products for sale
- utilize production planning tools to accurately produce fresh products and ensure discard or markdown processes to reduce shrink
- ensure product is held at proper temperature per food safety guidelines and retain documentation of temperature logs
- ensure company standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation and productivity are maintained
- adhere to all regulatory compliance requirements pertaining to food safety and government regulations
- execute all product recalls and withdrawals in a timely manner
- reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and inspect and identify unsafe conditions to report to management
- notify management of customer or employee accidents
- report all safety risks or issues and illegal activity including robbery, theft or fraud
- ensure adherence to wage and hour policies and regulations
- cultivate a culture of safety within the store
- ensure self and all associates are working safely and have received necessary safety training
- ensure hazardous assessments are posted for associate reference and personal protective equipment is available and utilized
- ensure equipment is in good repair and report and assist with remediation of safety hazards
