Job Description

LaMar's Donuts is a renowned and beloved franchise established by Ray LaMar in 1933, beginning as a single shop in a converted gas station in Kansas City, Missouri. The brand is deeply rooted in craftsmanship, quality, and tradition, and over the decades, it has expanded to multiple locations across Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, and Nebraska. LaMar's Donuts has earned a reputation for excellence, garnering numerous accolades and favorable reviews from prestigious publications including The New Yorker and Gourmet. Notably, it was the first donut brand to be reviewed and acclaimed by Zagat, the world's most trusted restaurant guide, further affirming its position as a leading name in the bakery and donut industry. Known affectionately as "simply a better donut," LaMar's Donuts continues to delight customers with its dedication to quality and unique flavors. The company culture honors its heritage while embracing innovation and operational excellence to meet customer expectations across all its franchise locations.

The Baker role at LaMar's Donuts located in Englewood, Colorado, is a vital position responsible for baking and preparing the signature donuts and specialty pastries according to well-established recipes and production standards. This non-exempt, hourly position offers compensation ranging from $15.50 to $20.25 per hour plus tips, reflecting the importance placed on skilled baking and customer service. The Baker’s responsibilities begin as early as 6:00 PM the day before through to 3:00 AM the following business day, encompassing a wide range of baking and production tasks including preparing icings and frostings, weighing and molding dough, frying, decorating, and applying toppings to ensure the high quality and consistency expected from LaMar's products. Beyond baking, the role also includes delivering fresh products, maintaining inventory by receiving ingredients, and stocking display areas to ensure the store is ready for customers each day.

This position demands exceptional attention to detail, punctuality, and a commitment to operational excellence. Bakers are expected to maintain a clean and sanitized work environment, monitor and record ingredient temperatures, comply with safety guidelines, and support process improvements to enhance efficiency and product quality. A unique aspect of this role is that English proficiency is not required for baking and production duties performed before 3:00 AM, though bilingual candidates are strongly preferred, emphasizing LaMar's commitment to an inclusive workplace. The role also requires a valid driver’s license that meets insurance underwriting requirements, as transportation of products to stores is part of the duties. Bakers need strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills along with the physical ability to handle routine lifting and movements associated with baking and kitchen operations. Strong reasoning ability and the capacity to work cooperatively with management and team members are vital to ensuring smooth bakery operations and superior customer satisfaction.

Working as a Baker with LaMar’s Donuts offers an exciting opportunity to join a team that values tradition, quality, and customer delight while providing a supportive and inclusive environment. The job includes benefits that support the physical and professional well-being of employees, along with opportunities for ongoing training and career growth within a respected and expanding franchise.
