UW Health emphasizes creating a supportive work environment that fosters belonging, diversity, and inclusion. As an Equal Employment Opportunity employer, UW Health is committed to providing equal opportunities to all qualified applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, veteran or disability status, or genetic information.

This role is for a Baker position located at East Madison Hospital. The Baker will be responsible for preparing a wide variety of bakery items, including breads, pastries, cakes, and desserts. This full-time position offers day shifts with start times varying between 5:00 AM and 8:00 AM from Monday through Friday, depending on departmental needs. There is also a mid-shift option with start times between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The position encourages an upbeat individual who can effectively multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

As a Baker at UW Health, you will follow established recipes and quality standards to ensure consistently high-quality bakery products. Operating commercial baking equipment safely and efficiently is a crucial part of the role. Additionally, maintaining cleanliness in the work area and adhering to safe food handling guidelines ensure compliance with health and safety standards. Employees may also qualify for shift differentials, including evening or night differentials, adding competitive compensation components to this rewarding position.

The Baker will also enjoy an excellent benefits package that includes health and dental insurance, paid time off, retirement plans, parental leave, and adoption assistance. Moreover, employees have access to resources supporting emotional, financial, and physical well-being through the Employee Wellbeing Department. The organization actively invests in the professional development of its staff by providing tuition benefits for coursework related to career advancement. There is also an opportunity to earn referral bonuses for recommending qualified candidates for open positions.

This role is ideal for individuals with at least one year of food production or bakery experience, or equivalent culinary training and experience. While ServSafe certification is preferred, culinary training is also welcomed but not mandatory. The ability to work independently and as part of a team in a hygienic and compliant manner is essential.
