The Baker role at Sodexo, based at Gonzaga University, is a full-time position with competitive pay ranging from $17.13 to $19.00 per hour. This role involves preparing high-quality baked goods that meet Sodexo's culinary standards, ensuring products are visually appealing and delicious to satisfy guests' expectations. The baker will be responsible for following detailed recipes and production schedules to create various breads, rolls, muffins, biscuits, cakes, and pastries from scratch. This position requires hands-on craftsmanship, including weighing and measuring ingredients accurately, mixing doughs and batters by hand or mixer, shaping and cutting dough, and regulating oven temperatures to bake items to perfection.

In addition to crafting baked goods, the baker will maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensure proper storage and labeling of products, and adhere to food safety and sanitation standards. The role demands physical stamina, as it involves extended periods of walking, standing, reaching, bending, and lifting up to 35 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma GED or equivalent experience
  • 0 to 1 year of related work experience
  • Experience in a specialized bakery or pastry role preferred
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods throughout the entire duration of a shift which may exceed 8 hours
  • Ability to reach bend stoop push and or pull and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift or move 50 pounds
  • Must be able to use hands to finger handle feel reach with hands and arms and taste or smell
  • Significant walking or other means of mobility
  • Attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity

Job Duties

  • Check daily production schedules and follow Sodexo recipes to prepare a variety of baked items from scratch such as breads rolls muffins biscuits cakes and pastries
  • Accurately weigh and measure ingredients mix doughs and batters by hand or mixer shape and cut dough and bake items to perfection
  • Regulate oven temperatures monitor baking times and ensure all products are prepared held and served at correct temperatures
  • Set up and stock the bake shop area maintain proper storage rotation labeling and dating of all products and keep the bakery clean and organized
  • Pay close attention to detail accommodate special requests and ensure only high-quality baked items leave the kitchen
  • Attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Perform other duties as assigned depending on business necessities and client requirements
