Job Description
Bruegger's Bagels is a well-established brand famous for its authentic New York-style bagels and premium made-in-Vermont cream cheese. For over 35 years, Bruegger's has been dedicated to delivering genuine kettle-cooked bagels, combining tradition and quality that customers can truly taste. Operating as a bakery-focused restaurant, Bruegger's places a strong emphasis on both the quality of its products and the work-life balance of its employees. They maintain shorter store hours, closing at 2pm daily, which allows their team members to enjoy their evenings and family time, making it an ideal workplace for those seeking a balanced lifestyle. Located at 1650 86th St NW, Clive, Iowa, Bruegger's Bagels is committed to maintaining an inclusive, fair, and respectful work environment that values diversity and equal opportunity in employment.
The role of Baker at Bruegger's Bagels is essential to the success of the brand, as the quality of bagels depends heavily on the skill and dedication of the bakers. Bakers are the first people in the bakery each morning, arriving as early as 3 AM to prepare for the day by ensuring that the bagels are perfectly kettle-cooked and ready for sale. This early start allows bakers to work in a focused, often solitary environment, aided by their favorite podcasts or music. In addition to baking, these team members help in stocking the bagel wall and pastry cases, contributing to excellent customer service by assisting with order taking and sandwich making when necessary. Bakers take great pride in ensuring that all products meet the company’s high standards of quality and taste while also maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
Working at Bruegger's offers numerous benefits, including competitive pay, tips from cash and credit card transactions, and paid time off, subject to position guidelines. The company also provides a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program, offering free therapy, financial advising, and legal advice, as well as Life Coaching through the Learn To Live program that assists with stress and anxiety management. Additionally, the job includes a 401K plan with company matching, further supporting the financial well-being of employees.
Candidates applying for the Baker position must be at least 18 years old, capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment, and willing to work varied hours that include early mornings and weekends. Background checks are required in compliance with local, state, and federal laws. Depending on the location, a valid state-issued driver’s license and the ability to meet driving qualifications may also be necessary. The physical demands include intermittent sitting, standing, bending, lifting, and moving throughout the shift, with or without accommodations. Bruegger’s actively promotes equal employment opportunities regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or other legally protected status, underscoring the company’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. Working here means being part of a dedicated team committed to quality and community while enjoying a role that respects your personal time and growth within the company.
