The Baker position at Grand Casino Hotel & Resort operates under the guidance of the Pastry Chef and plays a crucial role in the culinary team by preparing, baking, and cooking a variety of food products including breads, cakes, cookies, pies, puddings, and other desserts or specialty food items. This full-time, non-exempt role offers an hourly wage of $14.00, with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees. The baker is responsible for adhering to daily preparation lists, maintaining impeccable quality standards, and ensuring consistency in product presentation and taste. This role requires attention to detail in measuring ingredients, mastering blending and decorating techniques, and following standardized recipes to guarantee exceptional outcomes that align with the resort's high culinary standards.

Job Requirements

  • must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • at least 2 years of baking experience
  • able to work weekends, nights, and holidays
  • must be able to communicate clearly with managers and kitchen personnel
  • able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
  • able to work in a standing position for long periods of time up to 5 hours
  • must have a highly motivated and energetic personality

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • at least 2 years of baking experience
  • skilled in preparing a variety of baked goods including breads, cakes, cookies, pies, and puddings
  • familiarity with standard recipes and portion control
  • ability to work well in a team environment
  • strong communication skills
  • capable of following safety and sanitation standards

Job Duties

  • cook and create all specialty desserts, cakes, pastries, breads, and other baked goods to ensure great guest satisfaction
  • refer to Daily Prep List at the start of each shift for assigned duties
  • assume 100 percent responsibility for quality of products served
  • stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period
  • pay attention to details such as measuring ingredients correctly, being able to mix and blend them together, decoration and taste quality to produce an exceptional product
  • understand and comply consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures
  • follow proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes
