Job Description

Montefiore Health System is a leading academic medical center and University Hospital for Albert Einstein College of Medicine located in Tarrytown, New York. Montefiore Health System is currently seeking an experienced Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Supply Chain Services. This high-level leadership role is ideal for a seasoned healthcare supply chain executive with a proven ability to manage complexity and drive continuous operational improvements. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Supply Chain Services, the AVP will provide enterprise-wide leadership and oversight across all core supply chain functions including strategic sourcing, procure-to-pay processes, materials management, ERP and supply chain systems, data analytics, and project design and enablement. The position operates during the day shift, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 5 PM, with a scheduled 7.5-hour workday.

The AVP will be responsible for ensuring reliable supply chain operations, strong financial stewardship, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization. This involves partnering closely with senior leaders, clinicians, and operational teams to define future-state workflows, enable technological enhancements, and lead initiatives focused on savings, efficiency, automation, and process redesign. The role demands exceptional leadership, strategic vision, and the ability to manage and inspire a large, diverse workforce, including unionized teams.

Key responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day operations within all supply chain functions, driving performance through key performance indicators (KPIs), and ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and project documentation. Leading multiple complex, cross-functional projects concurrently, the AVP will coordinate efforts with governance structures to achieve sustainable business outcomes while enhancing collaboration across the system. The role demands excellent communication skills for executing effective stakeholder engagement and alignment across the enterprise.

This position offers a highly competitive salary range from $280,000 to $350,000, reflecting the importance and impact of the role on organizational success. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain, or related field
  • 10+ years of progressive management experience in healthcare supply chain operations
  • Experience managing large teams and complex supply chain functions
  • Familiarity with ERP and supply chain software systems
  • Strong analytical and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • Ability to work Monday to Friday, day shift
  • Resilience and strategic vision in driving continuous improvement

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain, or related field
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive management experience in healthcare supply chain operations
  • Experience overseeing large teams and complex operations in academic medical centers or integrated delivery networks
  • Knowledge of healthcare supply chain management functions, vendor management, talent management, contracting, project management, and healthcare standards
  • Familiarity with ERP, contracting software, inventory systems
  • Understanding of healthcare indirect and non-clinical spend categories
  • Strong accounting principles, cost analysis, budgeting, forecasting, market and supplier research and analysis
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and enterprise supply chain systems

Job Duties

  • Oversee day-to-day operations across all supply chain functions including strategic sourcing, procure-to-pay, accounts payable, materials management, ERP and supply chain systems, data and analytics, project design and enablement, budgeting, and HR
  • Drive performance through KPIs, process monitoring, and timely reporting to leadership
  • Ensure departmental adherence to SOPs, protocols, and project documentation
  • Lead high-impact initiatives focused on savings, efficiency, automation, and process redesign
  • Analyze business needs, assess feasibility, develop requirements, and implement solutions across enterprise supply chain functions
  • Coordinate and manage multiple cross-functional projects concurrently, ensuring governance, measurement, and sustained outcomes
  • Serve as a trusted partner to executive, clinical, and operational leaders, facilitating collaboration and removing barriers to success
  • Develop and execute communication strategies for initiatives, ensuring clear visibility and alignment across the system
  • Lead senior directors and indirectly manage a large, diverse workforce including unionized teams
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and customer-focused culture anchored in accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
